Sugar Matte As Hell Scarlett O’Hara Review

So many people have written about their fabbags this time around. I loved reading all of them. For the first time this month, I ordered fabbag myself as well. And I wanted to write all about it. But I received my bag sooooo late that I changed my mind about it. Instead I am writing about a product that I received in my bag, and this one is Sugar Matte As Hell Scarlett O’Hara!!!

Price: INR 799 for 2.8 gm

This one is a matte crayon lipstick, and I am so happy that I received the shade that I wanted! The crayon comes beautifully packed in a card box and the crayon itself is black with color identifier tip I guess. Very stylish!!

Now coming to the color, this is a beautiful tomato red color, which I think will look good on all skin tones. It is a gorgeous shade, and I loved it even more than I thought. The color is perfect to be worn during the day as well at night. It is such a versatile shade, that will bring a brightness to your face, no matter you are using it on its own or with full makeup.

The texture is very smooth, almost melting on the lips. I loved the fact that it has such a lovely texture despite being a matte lipstick! I just love how it feels on the lips, no tugging, no drying, nothing! And I find it is so hard to find such texture in budget lipsticks! The crayon needs to be sharpened after a while, which some people tend not to like, but I absolutely have no problem with it.

As is the case with most lipsticks, I will recommend using it on fully moisturized lips. It is not drying on the lips itself, but in case there is flakiness or dryness, it tend to highlight it. And I will highly recommend to use a lip liner along with it, otherwise it tend to feather a bit due to its creamy texture ( as you can see in the pic above, I am using it without a liner).

It stays put on lips for almost 4 hours, after which it leaves a beautiful tint on the lips. Again the tint is not drying on the lips. It transfers a bit initially, but after a while it becomes less visible, almost  I noticed a slight transferring till around 3 hours. Touch ups will be required after full meals.

I am absolutely in love with the texture and this particular shade of these Sugar Matte as Hell crayons. In my opinion, everyone should at least have one shade of these beauties!!!

Flawed or fab???

Rating: 4.5/5

Will I repurchase Sugar Matte as Hell Crayon Lipsticks???

Yes to both. (Although I will buy some other shade, because I am never successful in finishing my makeup)

Once again, don’t wait. Go grab these beauties if you already don’t have one. And please share your experiences with me.

2015 in review

The stats helper monkeys prepared a 2015 annual report for this blog. I will like to take this opportunity to thank all the lovely people who made this journey so joyful! Thank you all!

Here’s an excerpt:

Victoria’s Secret Sheer Love Body Butter Review

I was not planning to blog today. The cold weather got the better of me, and I am having a sore throat and fever since last night. But since I am feeling a little better now, I thought…. why not???

I have been using Victoria’s Secret Sheer Love Deep Softening Body Butter for a week now. As I have already mentioned in my earlier blog here , it is a gift from Australia. Unfortunately, that is the reason I don’t know the exact price of this one. But I have been looking it up online, and it is available for INR 999 at Flipkart and somewhere around INR 2500 at Amazon!!!

VS Body ButterThe one that I have is White Cotton & Pink Lilydeep softening body butter. It is packed in a pink plastic tub container with a golden plastic lid. Now the consistency of this body butter is something that I have never come across earlier. It is pale pink in color, and has a jelly like consistency to touch. It resists your attempt to go deeper in the pot, so you end up using the product from the top layers only. Quite interesting to me!

The body butter is easy to spread, and gets absorbed quickly in the skin. Though it leaves a slight shine on the skin, it is not one of those look-i-have-oil-on-my-skin kinds. It is more of look-i-have-glowing-skin kinds! And I like that a lot. The only problem I face is applying it on the back, because I find it hard to apply there due to its thick consistency. But to solve that problem, I just warm up the body butter in between my fingers a little bit and it is good to go.

This body butter moisturizes my skin well, but not upto 24 hours like the Jergens Ultra Healing does. That said, it is still an amazing product, especially for normal skin in the winter. I will have to see how it works out in the summers for me, but I have high hopes given it’s current performance on my dehydrated skin.

The only con that I can find is the smell, which I don’t enjoy that much, but I know that’s just me!!! It reminds me of Vaseline body lotion which I didn’t enjoy, so that could be the reason for my disliking.

In my opinion, this is a wonderful product from Victoria’s Secret, and though it is not readily available in India, you should definitely try it out if you can get your hands on it!

Will I repurchase the Victoria’s Secret Sheer Love Body Butter???

Probably no, and that’s just because of the smell and nothing else. I will love to try out other body butters from VS for sure! You listening bro and sis-in-law??? 🙂

The Body Shop Vitamin E Lip Care Review

I need lip balms all the time. Through out the year, my lips tend to get dry, and I have to use a lip balm all around the year, though the frequency increases substantially during winters. And I think this is a case with so many of us out there. I have been using and loving Maybelline Baby Lips for a long while now. The Nivea lip balms did nothing to me, and once I tried the Body Shop Born Lippy lip balms which come in a pot, I found out that I am more into stick lip balms than the pot ones.

I have been hearing so much good things about the Vitamin E product line, so I decided to give a try to their Vitamin E Lip Care.

Price: INR 350 for 4.2 gm

20151228_121024Product Claims on website:

This moisturising lip balm soothes and protects lips from the drying effects of the sun, wind and cold weather”

  • Soothes dry lips
  • With SPF 15

The Body Shop Vitamin E Lip Care comes with an SPF 15, which is an added advantage. The lip balm comes in a pale pink plastic stick packing, with a transparent cap. The product comes out by rolling from the bottom, and the lip balm looks pale in color in the stick. But it does not show any color on the lips. That makes it perfect for the men in the house as well!!!

I have been using this lip balm for almost a week now and I LOVEEEE it! It actually keeps my lips moisturized longer than any other lip balm that I have ever used. It contains coconut oil and olive oil along with other ingredients, and they do  pretty decent job of keeping lips soft and moisturized. There is no waxy feeling after applying this balm, which, to be honest, happens at times with my favorite Maybelline Baby Lips as well. I tried putting it on at night before sleep, and I felt a major difference in my lips in the morning. I put it on, and it feels that it gets absorbed in the lips. Moments later I even forget that I have something on my lips, but it keeps on doing its job silently and efficiently.

The best thing about this TBS Vitamin E Lip Care is that you can use it as a lip treatment as well. I find it apt for times when you don’t want that extra tint on your lips, just a regular lip balm. I tried using it under my lipstick as well. Now most of the lipsticks tend to make my lips dry, and I find lipstick slipping on my lips with other lip balms. But this one worked amazingly well. My lips were totally hydrated even after hours of wearing lipstick, and it didn’t cause any trouble in making the process of putting on lipstick bothersome.

I am totally in love with this lip balm, and I can safely say that this one is going to be HG lip product now. I love using it all the time!!!

Flawed of Fab???

Revlon Eye & Lip Makeup Remover Review

A long weekend for most of people has just come to an end. It is always fun when a festival adds up to weekend and brings all the more joy to people all around. I hope all of you had lovely time with your family& friends.

For many of you, this whole week was about parties, outings, family dinners and lots of shopping fun! That also meant lots of getting ready, putting on lots of makeup and look all pretty. So today, I thought of reviewing a makeup remover. And this one is Revlon Eye & Lip Makeup Remover.

Price: INR 260 for 60 ml

What Revlon Eye and Lip Makeup Remover Claims:

This creamy makeup remover lifts away all kinds of makeup, including longwearing and transfer resistant makeup.

  • Leaves skin comfortably soft and free of residue
  • Non-irritating
  • Ophthalmologist tested
  • Won’t cause breakouts

To use:

Squeeze a small amount into palm of hand and spread over entire face (including eyes and lips) using small circular motions. Use tissue or rinse off with water.

The Revlon Eye & Lip Makeup Remover comes in a white plastic tube with black cap. The packing is very simple yet effective to use. Nothing too flashy, just a regular simple to use tube packing.

Now this one is a product that I have repurchased so many times. This product has been in the market for couple of years now. I don’t use makeup on a regular basis. So I never have come around the idea of buying an expensive makeup remover. This one is so budget friendly as well as very effective. I apply the remover on face with my fingers, rub it in for few seconds and then wipe it off with a cotton ball. It takes away most of the makeup away in the first wipe itself. For waterproof, I sometimes need to use it one more time. And then I just wash my face with my regular face wash.

I really like this makeup remover for many reasons. First reason first, It can be used to remove all kind of make up, so I don’t need to use different removers. The packaging is very convenient, both to use as well as to carry around. And it is quite good at its job of removing the makeup completely from all over my face. I do always feel the need to wash my face after using this one, probably because it has mineral oil in it.

In my opinion, the Revlon Eye & Lip Makeup Remover is a really good choice for people like me who do not use make up on regular basis. This product is quite easy on the pocket, it has a long shelf life (36 months) and it does its job decently. Even if I fail to use the product before its expiration date, my heart does not skip a beat on the thought of discarding it.

In my opinion, it is one of the best budget makeup removers in the market. In case you don’t have a problem with mineral oil, this product is worth trying.

Will I repurchase Revlon Eye & Lip Makeup Remover???

Yes, I have repurchased it already a couple of times.

Is any one of you a fan of this makeup remover??? What are the other makeup removers that you all are using???

Wella Professionals System Professional Smoothen Mask Review

I have finally finished the L’oreal  Total Repair 5 mask and have started using my new hair mask. I have used it three times now, and I think I am ready to review it now.

Te product that I am reviewing today is Wella Professionals System Professional Smoothen hair mask. This mask comes in a rectangular shaped white plastic container with a purplish-blue cap. The cap is not very sturdy, as I have already mentioned here that my cap already was broken. The mask itself is pale yellow in color, with a mild pleasant smell to it.

Price: INR 995 for 200 ml

20151223_125156Product Description:

“Infused with a Vitamin-rich blend of Avocado Oil, Hydrolysed Keratin and Pro Vitamin B5, Smoothen Mask rejuvenates, nourished and deeply conditions unmanageable, thick, coarse and frizzy hair. Wella SP’s exclusive Active Cashmere Complex effectively detangles, smoothes and calms the hair structure to protect against frizz and improve manageability.

Smoothen Mask delivers exceptional results after the first application and leaves the hair noticeably smoother, healthier and more manageable with all signs of frizz diminished.”

Directions to use:

“Work evenly into pre-shampooed towel-dried hair.Leave on for up to 5 minutes.Rinse thoroughly.”

My hair is straight, fine and a little dry. I often have trouble with split ends and hair fall. I use this product as directed. After using this mask, I have seen shine in my hair, along with softness and easy to manage hair. Since my hair are fine, they tangle very easily. This mask leaves my hair super soft and untangled after wash. It also leaves a very mild fresh smell in my hair.

The only con for me is the fact that I have to leave this mask for good 5 minutes in my hair as opposed to my L’oreal one.Sometimes my patience gives up, but it works fine even if I wash it off a little early. It is also on a bit expensive side, but if it works true to its claim, it can be justifiable.

I find this mask true to its claim of making hair soft and manageable. But my hair are not that frizzy to begin with, but still I think it is a decent job. It is a product trying out at least once in my opinion.

Rating: 4/5

Will I repurchase Wella SP Smoothen Mask again?

Probably not, and that is not because this product is not good. It is simply because I think that my hair can do well with some other mask as well since my hair are not that unruly.

Have anyone of you used Wella SP Smoothen Mask??? I will love to hear how this mask worked out for different hair type.

Pasta with stir fried chicken Recipe

Sometimes you want to dine on Monday as if it is still Sunday! That’s what happened last night, and we ended up having a beautiful pasta with chicken for dinner. Since we really enjoyed it, so I thought of sharing the recipe.

I cook my food not by measurements but what feels right to me. So please excuse me for not being able to share the exact quantity of the ingredients used, but I think it will be easy for you as well to customize according to your requirements. Here are the ingredients:

1.Pasta- preferably penne or fusilli

2.Chicken breasts sliced into small strips or cubes (I used one per person)

3.Broccoli- cut into medium sized florets

4.Red and yellow bell pepper- cut into long thin strips

5.Pasta sauce- home made or otherwise

6.Onion- chopped finely

7.Garlic- chopped finely

8.Ginger- grated or paste

9.Olive Oil

10.Soy sauce (optional)

13.Crushed black pepper

14.Italian seasoning of your taste ( I used dried oregano and basil)

15. Chili Flakes

16. Cheese ( I used Amul processed Cheese because I don’t have access to other cheese)

1.To marinate the chicken, add the sliced chicken breast to a glass bowl. Add soy sauce( if using), salt, honey and black pepper to it and mix it well. Let it rest for 15-20 minutes.

2. Boil the pasta as per the instructions on the pack and keep it aside.

3. Add olive to a deep pan. Add chopped onions and let it cook till the onions become translucent. Add some chopped garlic and grated ginger and let it cook for 30-40 seconds. Add some water to it, mix the pasta sauce as per taste and mix it well. Add some honey , chili flakes, seasoning and salt. Mix well and let it cook for some more time. It will come together to a sauce consistency.

4.Mix cooked pasta to it. Add grated cheese, mix well and it is done.

5. In another pan, heat some olive oil. Add remaining garlic and ginger and cook for 30-40 seconds. Add chicken to it and cook till it is done. You can do it in batches if you are using large quantity of chicken. Chicken is done!

6. Boil water in a sauce pan with some salt. Add broccoli to it and let it blanch for around 3 minutes. Drain the water and run it through cold water. Add some salt, black pepper and olive oil to it. Broccoli is done!

7. In the same pan used to cook chicken, just stir in the sliced bell peppers with some salt for 1-2 minutes. The peppers are done!

Now just assemble your dinner. Fill up your plate with pasta, broccoli and peppers on the side, and top it up with chicken! Your dinner is ready!

I would love to hear from you in case you decide to make the recipe. Let me know how it turns out for you!!!

Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy Sculpting Lipstick-Rebellious Rose Review

I love Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy Sculpting Lipstick range. I have couple of these lipsticks, and today I will be talking about the shade Rebellious Rose.

Price: INR 2300

Lets start with the packaging first. The lipstick comes in a luxurious deep blue case with golden highlights. The plus point is that it an additional magnetic click lock. The packaging is really classy and to die for!

20151219_120457The texture of these lipsticks is super smooth. The lipstick glides on like a dream on the lips. The formula of these lipsticks is the best that I have used till date, and I feel it is one of the best formulas available in the market as well. The look it gives on my lips is like a moist lipstick. My lips tend to get dry when ever I apply lipstick for a long time, but I don’t have to worry about it with this range. The lipsticks are hydrating on the lips, and very light weight as well. Amazing stuff!!!

Rebellious Rose is a beautiful dusty rose color. It is a very unique color, that will suit most of the Indian skin tones. I normally feel that certain pink colors wash out my face completely. But this shade is so vibrant and muted at the same time, that it brings a spark to the face. The other good thing about this shade is that you can dress it up as well as down depending upon your mood. It can be worn during the day with light or no makeup, and it can be a night color as well. Love this shade!!!

20151219_121133The lipstick is highly pigmented and long lasting. Even on my pigmented lips, I usually need a single swipe to cover all the pigmentation. It lasts for good 5-6 hours, after which it might need touch ups.

I am completely in love with Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy lipsticks, and the shade Rebellious Rose is my absolute favorite right now.

5 Products in my current skincare routine

I have dry combination skin, which is sensitive in nature. During winter, it is more dry rather than dry combination. Also my skin has lots of issues. I have pigmentation, dark spots and roughness every now and then on my face. For a long time, I struggled to even find a decent moisturizer for my skin, as most of them didn’t provided any deep goodness for my skin. But for now, I have at least the basics sorted out to a certain extend. My routine is a very simple one on daily basis. I do certain things once or twice a week occasionally, but they will not be included here. The following are the products currently in my skincare routine:20151219_121953

  1. Clinique Liquid Facial Soap: The first step is of course cleansing. I use Clinique Liquid Facial soap for dry combination skin. Honestly, it is a very regular kind of face wash. It cleans the face just like any other face wash will do. It leaves my face a bit dry after every wash, but takes away majority of dirt while washing. I have been using this face wash for almost 2 years now, from the first time I tried it as a part of Clinique 3 step skincare kit. It is an expensive face wash with nothing much to offer. I am planning to change my face wash after this one finishes, because it is doing nothing that a 100 buck face wash can’t do.
  2. Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant: Well, this is the latest addition to my skincare. It has replaced my Oriflame face scrub, which is almost finished. I have a detailed review about this product recently here. I am totally in love with it and highly recommend it. Though it says it is ideal to be used every day, I am going to use it couple of times a week now and see how it works.
  3. Clinique Clarifying Lotion: This is again one product that I love a lot. A detailed review is here. It works wonderfully well in taking away all the dead skin and leaving your face ready for absorbing the products you are planning to put on. I have been using it for 2 years as well, and may replace it only to try some new products. If nothing works better, this is the one to come back to.
  4. Estee Lauder Advanced Night Serum: I have been using this serum for almost 8 months now. I am about to finish my 3rd bottle, but I haven’t seen any major results. Detailed review is already here. This is one step that I have to seriously reconsider and come up with something better. Any suggestions anyone???
  5. Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion: This is the final and most important step for me. I am using  Clinique dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion, again for 2 years now. This is another product from Clinique that has worked well for my skin. No other moisturizer has managed to hydrate my skin so well, without making it greasy or causing breakouts.

Any suggestions from anyone for the things I need to change in my skincare?? Also I will love to hear about how you all take care of your beautiful skin!

Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant Review

I have been hearing such great things about Dermalogica for a while. But this brand is still not easily available in India, so I did nothing about it. But some time back, while normally surfing through the online shopping sites, I came to learn that quite a few sites are stocking it up now. I wanted to try something out, but could not decide what to try because of the huge price tag and unavailability of smaller sized products. As I was running out of my current scrub, I came across Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant. It was available in smaller size, so I decided to give it a try. Moreover, I was eager to try how a powder microexfoliant will work, so I ordered one from Flipkart.

Price: INR 975 for 13 gm

Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant

What the brand has to say about this Daily Microfoliant:

Gentle, daily use exfoliating powder for all skin conditions. Unique Rice-based powder formula activates upon contact with water, releasing Papain, Salicylic Acid and Rice Enzymes that micro-exfoliate dead cells, instantly leaving skin smoother and brighter. Our unique Skin Brightening Complex helps to balance uneven skin pigmentation while a super-soothing blend of Green Tea, Ginkgo and Colloidal Oatmeal helps to calm the skin, leaving it extraordinarily clear and refreshed. Gentle enough to use on a daily basis. Not recommended for users of medically-prescribed exfoliation products. Formulated without artificial fragrances and colors.”

How to Use:

“Dispense about a half-teaspoon of Daily Microfoliant® into very wet hands and create a creamy paste by rubbing hands together. Apply to face in circular motions, avoiding the eye area. Massage gently for one minute, then rinse thoroughly.”

Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant comes in a white plastic bottle with grey cap. The packaging is quite sturdy. The product itself is a fine white powder, with a faint smell of rice to it, nothing that will bother a sensitive nose.

I have been using this microfoliant for 4 days daily now. One has to be very careful with the product, the bottle has to be kept dry, else it will ruin the whole product. I generally take some product in my hand, add 2-3 drops of water, dab it on my face in dots, and then start scrubbing by wetting my hands a bit more.

The grains are very gentle, and once you start scrubbing, they just vanish on your face. Moreover, it starts feeling like some creamy face wash. I massage it with water after 30-40 seconds.

The results are just AMAZING!!! My face feels so soft and bright after using it. I have black heads around my nose and chin, and I was not sure if this will be able to clean them up. But they are all gone!!! And it is actually gentle to use every day. All I get is a soft clean face, which I keep on touching time and again 🙂

Although my face feels a bit dry after using it, but hey, I have dry skin and it is already winter time! It is nothing that my moisturizer can’t handle. I simply love this Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant. Although I have been using it daily for last 4 days for review purposes, I will try to use it 2-3 times a week now to see how it works. I have a feeling that my skin will be fine even using it couple of times a week.

I am really happy with this product, and glad that it lived up to my expectations. Highly recommended!!!
