My Envy Box February 2016

I subscribed to My Envy Box for the first time this month. I am not a huge fan of the subscription options currently available in Indian market. I subscribed to fabbag for December, and the only product I liked was Sugar Crayon Scarlett O’Hara , I did not even use rest of the items. But this month when I came to know that Forest Essentials is celebrating 15 years with My Envy Box, I had to get it! I have been trying to test Forest Essentials products, and since they almost never go on sale, I decided to pick this one up to try.

Price: INR 850 for 1 month (Longer sbscriptions available at discounted price

IMG_1519

This time it is a white Envy Box, which houses 5 products from Forest Essentials, very nicely packed. I got a list of products included in the box, and a coupon for 10% discount on Forest Essentials site. It also had a coupon for 10% discount on the designer jewelry box, which I think I am not going to use. Let’s have a look at the contents of the box.

Forest Essentials Silkening Shower Wash: A decent sample of 50 ml of this body wash, containing Mashobra Honey and Vanilla is a part of this box. It is priced at INR 295 for that quantity, a full size bottle should be by far more reasonably priced in my opinion. It smells great and I am going to try it soon.

Forest Essentials Ultra Rich Dazzling Body Lotion: Again another decent sample size of 50 ml, this one is priced at INR 375. I am excited to use this one as I am always on hunt for good moisturizers for my dry skin. This one is supposed to have Kokum butter along with other ingredients, which is supposed to be great for dry skin.

Forest Essentials Luxury Sugar Soap: A 125 gm of this luxury soap containing Neem, basil & honey is priced at INR 295. Again a decent size to use and make an opinion, I am having high hopes from this one as well.

Forest Essentials Hand Pounded Organic Fruit Scrub: This 8 gm sample is priced at INR 575! This has hand grounded dates, peaches and almond seeds along with other ingredients. Although the sample size looks small, I am sure I can use it couple of times and know it works on my skin.

Forest Essentials Lightening&Brightening Tejasvi Emulsion: This too is a 8 gm sample, and is priced at INR 675! Again I am lucky to get another product meant for dry skin, as this one is supposed to contain Ghee, which it smells like too. Honestly not a fan of this fragrance, but still not that bad that I can’t give it a try.

All and all, I am really happy with MY Envy Box February 2016. The samples for 850 bucks are pretty good, and I am glad it did not turn out to be having products that I would not like to use. Also the box reached me within 2 days of ordering, which is great given the time fabbag takes! If you are looking forward to try some new Forest Essentials products, then I will highly recommend giving this month’s box a try! Looking forward to try them all!

I am sure some of you already must have subscribed to the box. Please share how you felt about this month’s My Envy Box!

January 2016 Empties

After a small makeup and skincare purge, I have couple of empties for the month of January. I did not succeed in finishing many products, since I am trying out a couple of new things. I will share with you some of skincare and hair care products that I managed to finish, along with a mini review of each.

IMG_1234

Beauty Formulas Intimate Washing Gel: I have been using intimate wash products for couple of years now, and somehow I have only used the Beauty Formulas variants. This time I picked up their washing gel because I wanted to use a gel and it seemed pretty convenient for travelling as well. It did it’s job pretty well. The only issue is that since it is gel based, it does not lather at all. This led me to use more product than needed as I failed to understand initially how much I needed. But it worked perfectly well despite this, and I have no complains other than that.

Verdict: Already bought another Beauty Formulas Intimate wash, though not the gel one this time.

Nivea In-shower Body Moisturizer: This product was bought just as a remedy for my lazy nature, but it did not work that well for me. A detailed review is already at my blog. Although I did not like the product, I manged to finish the product by using it on and off.

Verdict: Will not purchase again!

Oriflame Milk & Honey Sugar Scrub: I used this face scrub for almost a year. I think I bough it as a pair along with its face wash. I don’t know what happened to the face wash though. The scrub is gentle as compared to some apricot and walnut scrubs out there, but it sometimes irritated my sensitive skin. But I kept on using it before I came across Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant and fell in love with it! I never used it on my face after that and finished it off by using as a body scrub.

Verdict: i will not buy it again, but it is still a good scrub than many drugstore scrubs in my opinion.

Jergens Ultra Healing Moisturizer: I don’t think I have to mention again and again how much I loved using this one. Jergens Ultra Healing has been a savior for my dry body skin this winter, and I finished this huge bottle in around 2 months, which was around 450ml!

Verdict: Already repurchased an even bigger bottle, so I set for months to come!

Dove Elixir Dryness Care Hair Oil: I oil my hair occasionally, and when ever I did, I used this oil. This is a blend of lavender and olive oil. Although the smell is lovely, but it is very synthetic. If you want to oil your hair in general without any major issues, then this is a good oil. Nothing exceptional.

Verdict: Will not repurchase it.

These are all the things that I managed to finish this month. Let me know what you used up and loved using this month.

A small make up and skincare purge

IMG_1233

Yesterday I went through my makeup and skincare storage and did a small purge. There were some products that were already expired but still lying around, so got rid of those. And then there were products that I had bought with high hopes but did not work out for me at all. So I decided to get rid of those as well. Just sharing quickly with you what I purged with a little reason for some of them.

I had two tubes of Garnier BB cream in my stash, the smaller one is almost finished while the larger one was hardly used. It is way beyond its expiry date, so threw both of them away. I don’t wear face makeup on regular days, but found this BB cream to be good for days when I wanted to. I will try out some other BB creams though, because this is the only one that I have tried so far!

For some reason, I had a very old bottle of L’oreal true match foundation in shade honey beige lying around! I already bought a new one in new packing but did not throw this one out. Don’t know why!!! Anyways, another foundation lying around was Colorbar Time plus Long stay makeup in Tawny Birch which is way beyond its expiry date. This one is hardly used, I remember buying this one way back while buying some Colorbar lipsticks, just to get rid of the SA. I used it one or twice, and never liked it. Total waste of money!

Clinique all about eyes was bought with high hopes, but it failed to do anything for my eyes, except hydration, which even a regular face lotion does. It has also expired, with still half the tub full. I got rid of Lakme Insta-Liner as well, because it has expired. Again most of it is unused, because I get very messy with liquid liners and avoid using them. Not buying both of these products again. Also an old Maybelline Eyestudio Liner had to go, as it had seen its good days. I also got rid of  Maybelline Chai Latte Quad which I had for a long time. I only used the darkest shade to fill in my brows. The lid was broken now and I decided to let it go.

An old lip gloss from L’oreal Glam Shine 6H range in shade Golden Tattoo had finished years back, don’t know why the tube was there. Had to get rid of that! Also got rid of Maybelline Water Shine Liquid Diamonds lip gloss in Pink Ruby, which was hardly used.

Two products that did not work out for me were Olay Regenerist micro-sculpting serum and Lotus Herbals Youth Rx Serum+Creme. Both broke me out, and even after giving multiple tries did not suit my skin. The saddest part is they were still good for another 2 years, but I don’t think I would have used them again. Total waste of money, highly disappointed!!! And lastly, I had to let go of a bottle of Neutrogena face wash, which was used to clean my make up brushes and had expired last month.

Sorting and getting rid of makeup and skincare is a difficult thing. but I am feeling so much better after doing it. Any one of you had taken a similar project recently or planning to do so???

Real Techniques Limited Edition Eyelining Set

IMG_1195

Another steal from Amazon’s Republic day Sale!!!

I bought this Real Techniques Limited Edition Eyelining Set for just Rs. 709!

This one is 5 piece set with 4 eye brushes and one pouch. The brushes are:

  1. Precision Liner Brush: for ultimate control of the perfect line
  2. Smudge Brush: designed for enhancing the eye with a smoky effect
  3. Eyeliner Brush: firm, angled head for optimal control along lash line
  4. Pointed Liner Brush: flat, tapered head designed to create both thin and thick lines

The brushes are in purple and black color, which dual colored fibers. Honestly, the finish of these brushes did not seem as good as the stippling brush that I got. The pouch is silver in color, very ordinary in look as well as quality.

I was on a hunt for a smudge brush and liner brush, and at this price could not stop myself from buying this set. I still have to use the brushes, and will share my views. Just wanted to do a first impression 🙂

Anyone else got a killer deal from Amazon during sale time????

5 Favorite Products This Winter

I can’t believe that January is almost over. It just felt like it had only two weeks, the first with all the joy and fun of a new year, and then straight into the last week. Since the month is about to end, I think this is a perfect time to share 5 products I loved the most this winter. This is the first time that I have used all of these products and I am in love with them already!!!

IMG_0948

For face, I loved using Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant a lot. This was my first product from this brand, and I totally loved using it as an exfoliator this winter. Though I have been using it 2-3 times a week rather than daily as recommended, I am totally happy with the results. This has taken a place in my routine as my scrub, and you can read more about it here.

For my eyes, I have been loving the Kaya Brightening and Firming Serum, which I have recently reviewed here. It is a product that has really worked well for my eyes despite all my doubts, and I am excited to see how much better the results can be in future.

My lips have been loving my new lip balm, The Bodyshop Vitamin E Lip Care. This has completely bowled  me over, and I think I am going to use it for a long time. My go to lip color has been Rouge Dior Baume 660 Coquette, again a new product that I am totally in love with! I don’t have to think even once before putting it on, because I know my lips will be totally taken care of along with the lovely color. Check out the shade here if you already have not!

Last but not the least, Jergens Ultra Healing has been my most beloved body moisturizer this winter. So glad I got this one! Check this one out if you are really looking for an effective body lotion for super dry skin.

Did any of the above products made a way into your list??? What have you been loving this winter???

Home made mask for troubled skin

I am having a troubled skin for past few days. Little bumps, some breakouts, uneven skin tone, along with some other issues are troubling me. The reason for the same has been a product, but I will discuss all about the incident in another post as I am still waiting back to hear on my complaint. Anyways, my main problem has been the break outs that happened, and I decided to go back to a home remedy to get some respite. It is a simple mask that I made from staple kitchen items and it has helped me to a certain extent. Let me share it with you, all you need is:

Besan ( Gram flour)– 2 table spoons

Turmeric– a pinch

Honey– few drops

Almond oil– around 5 drops

Milk 1-2 tablespoons

Mix besan and turmeric in a bowl. Add few drops of honey( 3-4 drops) and almond oil to it. Mix well. Not add milk to it, few drops at a time, to make a paste. Be careful not to make the pack too runny, we need a paste consistency.

Apply this pack on the face and neck with clean fingers or a pack brush. Leave it on for around 15 minutes. If the pack feels a little dry earlier, pat with some milk. Gently scrub and wash off with water after 15 minutes.

This pack instantly brightens up the face, and exfoliates mildly, leaving your face smooth and supple. Both turmeric and honey have anti bacterial properties, and help to fight off the break outs. I add few drops of almond oil as I have dry skin, and it provides hydration for my skin.

This pack has helped me to take care of some break outs due to bad reaction. I have used it 2 times over the span of 4 days, although 1-2 times a week is sufficient.

In case any of you try out this pack, let me know how it worked out for you 🙂

Kiehl’s Lip Balm #1 Review

Another lip product review! As I have already mentioned in one of my blogs, I had no intention of buying this one, but bought it just for courtesy sake. After trying out Maybelline Baby Lips Candy Wow, a detailed review of which is here, I started trying this Kiehl’s Lip Balm #1 and I am ready to review it.

Price: INR 595 for 15 ml

IMG_0131Product Details:

Temporarily protects and helps soothe dry lips. Helps shield lips from the drying effects of wind and cold weather. Apply liberally, and allow an excess of the balm to be absorbed.

Let’s talk about the packaging first. Not a fan! Not only is the packaging very boring, it also is not very functional. It comes in a white tube packing with a black cap. It is hard to apply from the tube itself, I take a little amount on the finger and then apply it on the lips. At least a stick packaging would have been more convenient.

Now coming to the product itself. I am very confused with what I have received. Firstly, while trying to read it’s manufacturing date, I read it to be 04/2015. Later on I realized that it was actually the importing date, and not the manufacturing date, which happened to be 05/2014!!! Now I expect to get such an old manufactured product while ordering online or another channel, but getting such an old product from the store itself was a bit disappointing. Although it is good till 36 months from the date of manufacturing, still I feel a bit unhappy.

IMG_0130

The product itself is dirty yellow in color with thick consistency, like that of vaseline. When I checked online, because I expected it to be colorless, I found out that I was right!!! I don’t know what to say! The smell was also a little off, like some oil gone rancid.

It took a little courage to try it on my lips. Though the product worked fine and did not cause any reactions or so, I am reluctant to use it again. It made my lips soft, but nothing special that other lip balms are not doing. I am not sure if the product that I have got is some how gone bad or what… I am not going to continue using it. I will bring up the issue with the store when I next visit them.

Totally disappointed!!!

Rating: 2/5 (Only because I think I might have got a product gone wrong)

Guilty Bites- Another Shopping Haul

OK. So the shopping bug has bit me. And it has bit hard! After a mini haul last week, I ended up doing a little more shopping this Sunday again. As I had mentioned earlier as well, I shop a little at a time. But I enjoyed my mini haul last week, and I think I am going to do more of it in future as well 😛

Anyways, I bought a couple of things this time, primarily make up related as opposed to last time. Have a look at what I got this time:

IMG_0688

I bought a couple of things from L’oreal. For long I wanted to try out their Color Riche lipstick in shade Black Cherry. This time I took the plunge and bought it. It is such a pretty shade, and the texture felt amazing when I tried it on there. Lets see how it works out for me. Also I am in search for a good sunscreen that does not make my face sweat and suffocate my skin. So I got the L’oreal Aqua Essence with SPF30. I have heard lots of good things about it, hopefully this one works. Lastly I got their Skin Perfect Facial foam for age 30+ as well. I am not much into the whitening products as such, I bought this one just to bring my total to certain amount to get a discount.

I bought two products from Maybelline as well. The first one is the Maybelline Baby Lips Candy Wow in Orange. I am already trying it out, review will be out soon. I also got the Maybelline Lip Gradation in the shade Pink 2. The texture of these felt amazing at the counter, will review it once I give it a complete try.

And last but not the least, my first purchase from Kiehl’s! I just wanted to browse the store to get an overlook about the products, but the SA was so generous with the samples that I ended up making a purchase. I bought Kiehl’s Lip Balm #1 to start with. The SA was generous enough to provide all the samples, especially for their Midnight Recovery Oil, since I didn’t want to buy it before trying out a sample. Look at all the samples on the right!!!

That’s all for now. I am sure you all must have made some purchases this weekend as well. Please share with me in the comment box!

A Mini Shopping Haul

Over the weekend I bought a couple of items. I am a kind of person who buys one product at a time, especially if I am trying it out. This time I went a little out of my comfort zone and bought a couple of things together. So I thought of sharing my mini haul with you guys. Here is a sneak peak:

IMG_0350

For skin care, I bought two products. I bought NUXE Serum Merveillance for my face. NUXE is a french brand, and this is the first product that I am trying out from them. It is an anti ageing serum, and I picked one for all skin types. For eyes, I picked up Kaya Brightening and Firming eye serum. I am on a hunt for a good eye serum that can work on my dark circles. Let’s see how this works out.

In makeup, I bought the concealer from Maybelline’s new Fit Me range. I picked up the shade Medium Moyen, though I am not sure if this shade will work out for me. The limited shade range is a total heart breaker. I also ended up picking up two Chambor Flowing Lipsticks, in the shades Fig Rose and Innocent Rose. They were on an offer-buy one get one free- so decided to try them out.

Thats All!!! Reviews coming out soon!
