Chambor Flowing Lipstick Innocent Rose Review

Today I am reviewing Chambor Flowing Lipstick Innocent Rose, which I got about a month back. I also picked up another shade- Fig Rose, which I have already reviewed on my blog. These two are my first try from Chambor, and I was pleased to pick them up when they were on one plus one offer.

Price: INR 645 for 4 ml

Chambor Flowing Lipstick Innocent Rose comes in a cute silver packaging  with a little transparent part to identify the shade in case you have more than one. The applicator is in form of a brush which is secured by a cap, and the lipstick has to be twisted from the bottom to get the product out. In my experience, the brush applicator was a little difficult to work with for a refined look, and I will prefer the doe-shaped applicator that comes with most of the liquid lipsticks than this one. The application with this brush gets a little messy sometimes, and you have to be careful to clean the brush before putting the cap on.

The texture of this Innocent Rose is very buttery, just like the Fig Rose. The formula has shea butter in it, which makes it very hydrating. It glides on lips very easily, so you have to be careful while applying it, or you can go wrong very easily. Also it takes a while to dry down to matte finish, so you have to be patient and careful during this time as well. It does not dry lips, although might accentuate lines after long hours of wearing. It stays on lips for good 5-6 hours.

Innocent Rose is a beautiful pink color, and it is very opaque as well. It very easily covers the pigmented lips well. Unlike Fig Rose, which had brown undertones to it, Innocent Rose is a pure pink color, which looks very pretty once it settles down on lips. It is a beautiful shade that will look good on fair and medium skin tones. More over, this shade can be muted down by bloating for a more neutral look, or it can go beautifully with a full make up look.

Overall Chambor Flowing Lipstick Innocent Rose is a very pretty pink color with a decent formula. I will recommend this if you are looking for a pretty non-drying pink shade.

Will I recommend Chambor Flowing Lipstick Innocent Rose to others???

Has anyone of you tried these Chambor Flowing Lipsticks???? Which is your favourite shade and how did you like it????

Clinique Moisture Surge Face Spray Review

I am using a lot of Clinique skincare products from the last 3 years or so. I like to try out skincare from other brands every now and then, but I tend to go back to Clinique time and again. I religiously follow their 3-step regimen (though I am planning to skip their face wash for a while now) and I have couple of other products from them as well. Today I am going to review the Clinique Moisture Surge Face Spray.

I got this bottle somewhere in summer of 2014, and have been using it every now and then. The bottle is almost finished and I was not actually planning to review it until one incident happened that made me change my mind. I was not even sure if I wanted to share this small incident with you all, but I now think I do. A little story time…..

I guess all of you might remember how excited I was to get samples from Kiehl’s??? Some time back I decided to give them a try. I decided to use their face wash, toner and much raved about Midnight Recovery Concentrate. I washed my face and toned with the sample provided. So far, so good. And then I applied the Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate on my face. First thing I noticed was that the oil smelled rancid. I checked the expiration date and it was good to go. So I applied it without thinking much. Within 4-5 minutes of applying it, I started to have a burning sensation on my face. I checked in mirror and to my horror, my face was red and small bumps were all over my face!!! I immediately washed my face and popped in an anti-allergic. But there was still a burning sensation on my face, so I went through my stash, picked up this face spray and sprayed it all over my face. With in seconds, my face calmed down, and in a minute or two redness went way down. My skin remained in a pretty bad shape for days, but this facial spray really helped to calm my skin whenever needed. So this is the story…..

Price: INR 2000 for 125 ml (the prices may have changed now)

Clinique Moisture Surge Spray comes in a pale pink plastic bottle with a spray pump. It is a sturdy packaging, and I always like the quality of their pump sprays, which is way better than the Forest Essentials one.

I bought this product in the summers, for that quick hydration that the dry skin needs at times even in the summer season. Although it was effective in calming my skin, I did not end up using much in summer. This could be probably because at home I preferred applying moisturizer whenever I can, and I found it bulky to travel with in my handbag. But it is a great spray to hydrate dry or itchy skin, especially in summer, as it provides a cooling effect as well.

I have used it over my makeup as setting spray as well, and believe me, it works very well in that area as well. It sets my makeup as well as hydrates at the same time. It is also a great product to apply whenever you feel that your makeup is a drying up your skin after a long wear.

I have used it extensively this winter, because sometimes my skin felt dehydrated even after couple of hours of moisturization. But the best use of this spray has been to calm down itchy and irritated skin. I have used it on my face after sun exposure as well, and it immediately calms down the skin.

The best thing about this face spray is its consistency. Although it is watery in texture, it sticks to your face when sprayed and does not run down the face. I have faced this problem with Forest Essentials toner, which when sprayed, runs all over your face. This in turn sticks to your skin and gets absorbed quickly.

The only con for me is that if sprayed a little too much especially in summer, it may feel sticky. Other than that, it is a perfect facial spray and the latest incident has restored my faith in this wonderful product all over again.

Flawed or Fab?

Rating: 4/5

Will I repurchase and recommend Clinique Moisture Surge Face Spray to others????

Yes to both.

January 2016 Empties

After a small makeup and skincare purge, I have couple of empties for the month of January. I did not succeed in finishing many products, since I am trying out a couple of new things. I will share with you some of skincare and hair care products that I managed to finish, along with a mini review of each.

Beauty Formulas Intimate Washing Gel: I have been using intimate wash products for couple of years now, and somehow I have only used the Beauty Formulas variants. This time I picked up their washing gel because I wanted to use a gel and it seemed pretty convenient for travelling as well. It did it’s job pretty well. The only issue is that since it is gel based, it does not lather at all. This led me to use more product than needed as I failed to understand initially how much I needed. But it worked perfectly well despite this, and I have no complains other than that.

Verdict: Already bought another Beauty Formulas Intimate wash, though not the gel one this time.

Nivea In-shower Body Moisturizer: This product was bought just as a remedy for my lazy nature, but it did not work that well for me. A detailed review is already at my blog. Although I did not like the product, I manged to finish the product by using it on and off.

Verdict: Will not purchase again!

Oriflame Milk & Honey Sugar Scrub: I used this face scrub for almost a year. I think I bough it as a pair along with its face wash. I don’t know what happened to the face wash though. The scrub is gentle as compared to some apricot and walnut scrubs out there, but it sometimes irritated my sensitive skin. But I kept on using it before I came across Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant and fell in love with it! I never used it on my face after that and finished it off by using as a body scrub.

Verdict: i will not buy it again, but it is still a good scrub than many drugstore scrubs in my opinion.

Jergens Ultra Healing Moisturizer: I don’t think I have to mention again and again how much I loved using this one. Jergens Ultra Healing has been a savior for my dry body skin this winter, and I finished this huge bottle in around 2 months, which was around 450ml!

Verdict: Already repurchased an even bigger bottle, so I set for months to come!

Dove Elixir Dryness Care Hair Oil: I oil my hair occasionally, and when ever I did, I used this oil. This is a blend of lavender and olive oil. Although the smell is lovely, but it is very synthetic. If you want to oil your hair in general without any major issues, then this is a good oil. Nothing exceptional.

Verdict: Will not repurchase it.

These are all the things that I managed to finish this month. Let me know what you used up and loved using this month.

A small make up and skincare purge

Yesterday I went through my makeup and skincare storage and did a small purge. There were some products that were already expired but still lying around, so got rid of those. And then there were products that I had bought with high hopes but did not work out for me at all. So I decided to get rid of those as well. Just sharing quickly with you what I purged with a little reason for some of them.

I had two tubes of Garnier BB cream in my stash, the smaller one is almost finished while the larger one was hardly used. It is way beyond its expiry date, so threw both of them away. I don’t wear face makeup on regular days, but found this BB cream to be good for days when I wanted to. I will try out some other BB creams though, because this is the only one that I have tried so far!

For some reason, I had a very old bottle of L’oreal true match foundation in shade honey beige lying around! I already bought a new one in new packing but did not throw this one out. Don’t know why!!! Anyways, another foundation lying around was Colorbar Time plus Long stay makeup in Tawny Birch which is way beyond its expiry date. This one is hardly used, I remember buying this one way back while buying some Colorbar lipsticks, just to get rid of the SA. I used it one or twice, and never liked it. Total waste of money!

Clinique all about eyes was bought with high hopes, but it failed to do anything for my eyes, except hydration, which even a regular face lotion does. It has also expired, with still half the tub full. I got rid of Lakme Insta-Liner as well, because it has expired. Again most of it is unused, because I get very messy with liquid liners and avoid using them. Not buying both of these products again. Also an old Maybelline Eyestudio Liner had to go, as it had seen its good days. I also got rid of  Maybelline Chai Latte Quad which I had for a long time. I only used the darkest shade to fill in my brows. The lid was broken now and I decided to let it go.

An old lip gloss from L’oreal Glam Shine 6H range in shade Golden Tattoo had finished years back, don’t know why the tube was there. Had to get rid of that! Also got rid of Maybelline Water Shine Liquid Diamonds lip gloss in Pink Ruby, which was hardly used.

Two products that did not work out for me were Olay Regenerist micro-sculpting serum and Lotus Herbals Youth Rx Serum+Creme. Both broke me out, and even after giving multiple tries did not suit my skin. The saddest part is they were still good for another 2 years, but I don’t think I would have used them again. Total waste of money, highly disappointed!!! And lastly, I had to let go of a bottle of Neutrogena face wash, which was used to clean my make up brushes and had expired last month.

Sorting and getting rid of makeup and skincare is a difficult thing. but I am feeling so much better after doing it. Any one of you had taken a similar project recently or planning to do so???

Real Techniques Limited Edition Eyelining Set

Another steal from Amazon’s Republic day Sale!!!

I bought this Real Techniques Limited Edition Eyelining Set for just Rs. 709!

This one is 5 piece set with 4 eye brushes and one pouch. The brushes are:

  1. Precision Liner Brush: for ultimate control of the perfect line
  2. Smudge Brush: designed for enhancing the eye with a smoky effect
  3. Eyeliner Brush: firm, angled head for optimal control along lash line
  4. Pointed Liner Brush: flat, tapered head designed to create both thin and thick lines

The brushes are in purple and black color, which dual colored fibers. Honestly, the finish of these brushes did not seem as good as the stippling brush that I got. The pouch is silver in color, very ordinary in look as well as quality.

I was on a hunt for a smudge brush and liner brush, and at this price could not stop myself from buying this set. I still have to use the brushes, and will share my views. Just wanted to do a first impression 🙂

Anyone else got a killer deal from Amazon during sale time????

L’oreal UV Perfect Aqua Essence Review

There are some things which I have found always hard to use due to various reasons. One of them is a sunscreen, which I have avoided using for most of my life so far. Let me tell you one thing, this for sure is not for lack of trying. I tried to use sunscreens time and again, but I always feel my skin could not breathe once I applied the sunscreen. My face sweats a lot, gets all oily and tends to break out. I feel the layer of sunscreen suffocating my skin to death!!! ( I know I am getting dramatic!)

My skin has definitely started showing the signs of sun damage, and I want to further minimize it to some extent. So I have been on  a hunt for a good sunscreen for a while now, and this is when I ended up buying this L’oreal UV Perfect Aqua Essence with SPf 30. This is supposed to be the 1st watery essence from L’oreal which offers a complete daily protection in a watery sensation.

Price: INR 475 for 30 ml

Shelf Life: 36 months

Product Claims:

Immediately skin is protected against signs of photoaging (brown spots, darkening, loss of elasticity, wrinkles) and external stress.

Day after day, skin stays visibly fair and young.

L’oreal UV Perfect Aqua Essence comes packed in a cute greyish-blue tube with white cap. There is a nozzle for dispensing the product, which is fuss free and very functional. The packaging makes it very easy to use, as well as to carry while travelling.

The product is white in color, and runny in consistency. It is not very thick, just a little thicker than water. It has a mild fragrance to it, with stays on for about 20-30 minutes and then vanishes. It is a broad spectrum UV Protector, which protects the skin against both UVA as well UVB rays. The sunscreen is very light in texture, and easily gets absorbed in the skin. There is no feeling of a layer on the skin, and it lets my skin breathe perfectly! Such a relief!

There is a very slight greasy feeling when I apply it, which disappears within a minute once it is absorbed in the skin. I really love how it vanishes from the surface of the skin. I was already having a few break outs when I started using this, and I did not see any more, so I think this in itself is not going to break me out either. It is an ultimate solution to all my concerns-it has SPF 30, does not feel oily or greasy, and lets my skin breathe! It is a total winner for me, and I am loving using it. It is also available in SPF 50, which I think will be more apt for the coming summer season.

If you are one like me, who is looking for a sunscreen that does not stop your skin from breathing while providing all the benefits of a good sunscreen, then I think you should definitely give L’oreal UV Perfect Aqua Essence a try. In my opinion, you will not be disappointed.

Flawed or Fab???

Rating:4/5 ( It is a bit expensive than other sunscreens)

Will I repurchase and recommend L’oreal UV Perfect Aqua Essence to others???

Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy Sculpting Lipstick-Envious Review

Envious was the first lipstick that I bought from Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy Sculpting range. Just passing by the the Estee Lauder store, I saw this model wearing a beautiful color on her lips in the poster. I immediately walked into the store, asked the SA which shade it was, and bought it by swatching just on my hands and not even trying on the lips.

Price: INR 2300

The lipstick comes in a classy royal blue and gold packaging. It has a magnetic lock, which makes it safe to carry in your handbag without any worries. The lipstick looks gorgeous in the bullet, and I love this packaging a lot.

Now the texture of these lipsticks is super amazing. I have already reviewed the shade Rebellious Rose here, and Envious is no different in texture than this one. It glides on lips easily, without any tugging on lips, and gives a very hydrated and moist look to the lips. Love the texture of this range!!! It keeps the lips hydrated for a long time, and after a while I even forget that I have anything on my lips, it is super light! It does not settle in the lines nor does it accentuates them.

Envious is a beautiful red color, which will suit a lot of skin tones. It looked a little more deeper in the poster, but I love how it looks on my lips. It is such a lovely glossy red color, that will add loads of confidence to your look. I totally love this color. It is great for night outs and parties, but if you love wearing red then you can rock it during the day as well.  If you are one of those who have difficulty in finding your perfect red, then I suggest you give this one a try and I am sure you will fall in love with this shade.

The lipstick is very pigmented. Even pigmented lips will need 1-2 swipes to give a true color. It lasts for at least 6 hours, after which it fades away evenly. It does transfer a bit, but for the color and formula, I don’t mind that at all. It leaves a beautiful tint to the lips, which does not look patchy at all.

Flawed or Fab???

Will I recommend Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy Sculpting Lipsticks to others???

Definitely Yes. And in case you are a matte lover, they have come up with matte line in the same range. So you can definitely give them a shot if you want.

Nivea In-Shower Body Moisturiser Review

Hope every one had a fun weekend. I am back with another review, and this time it is for Nivea In-Shower Body Moisturiser for dry skin. One of the major trouble for the dry skinned beauties is to keep their hydrated, so that it does not end up looking scaly and rough. I have very dry skin in winters, and since I am lazy, I keep on looking for easier methods for hydrating my body. This is when I bought this body conditioner from Nivea, and let me share my experience.

Price: INR 250 for 250 ml

Shelf Life: 30 months from date of manufacturing

IMG_0949Directions for use:

Use your normal soap/body wash and rinse off

Apply NIVEA’s In-Shower Body Moisturiser on wet skin while still in the shower

Leave it on for 2 minutes and then rinse off

Dry yourself, and get dressed immediately. Leaves no residues in towels

The Nivea In-Shower Body Moisturiser comes packed in a blue tube packaging, with a flip cap. The packaging is quite sturdy, but as is the case with tube packaging, it is hard to get the body conditioner out when you reach towards the end. The body conditioner is white is color, and thick in consistency, and has a smell that is some what chemical in nature. The smell stays on body for a while, but the smell could be troublesome for people with sensitive nose.

I use the body conditioner as directed. Firstly, I find that it is hard to wash off. I keep on getting a slippery feeling even when I have washed off many times, and the feeling is relieved only when I towel dry my skin. Secondly, as mentioned on the product itself, it tends to make the floor slippery, and you have to be careful to wash off the floor well.

Now coming to the hydrating part, I started using it before the winters, and it did moisturize my skin. But if I did not follow it up with a body moisturiser, it started to feel dry after 2-3 hours. Not impressed! In winters though, it performed even worse and I had to religiously follow it up with a body moisturizer. All it did for me that it provided a healthy sheen to the skin for sometime but nothing much.

I did not enjoy using the product that much. It might be hydrating enough for normal skin, but not for dry skin. If I have to follow up with a moisturizer after using it, then there is no point for me to add an extra step in shower.

In my opinion, try this only if you have normal skin, and find out if it works out for you. I think dry skin beauties can invest in something better than this one.

Rating: 2.5/5

Will I repurchase or recommend Nivea In-Shower Body Moisturiser to others????

I will not repurchase it, and will recommend it only to people with normal skin, and see if that works for them.

Have any one of you tried Nivea In-Shower Body Moisturiser??? If yes, please share how it worked out for you.

5 Favorite Products This Winter

I can’t believe that January is almost over. It just felt like it had only two weeks, the first with all the joy and fun of a new year, and then straight into the last week. Since the month is about to end, I think this is a perfect time to share 5 products I loved the most this winter. This is the first time that I have used all of these products and I am in love with them already!!!

For face, I loved using Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant a lot. This was my first product from this brand, and I totally loved using it as an exfoliator this winter. Though I have been using it 2-3 times a week rather than daily as recommended, I am totally happy with the results. This has taken a place in my routine as my scrub, and you can read more about it here.

For my eyes, I have been loving the Kaya Brightening and Firming Serum, which I have recently reviewed here. It is a product that has really worked well for my eyes despite all my doubts, and I am excited to see how much better the results can be in future.

My lips have been loving my new lip balm, The Bodyshop Vitamin E Lip Care. This has completely bowled  me over, and I think I am going to use it for a long time. My go to lip color has been Rouge Dior Baume 660 Coquette, again a new product that I am totally in love with! I don’t have to think even once before putting it on, because I know my lips will be totally taken care of along with the lovely color. Check out the shade here if you already have not!

Last but not the least, Jergens Ultra Healing has been my most beloved body moisturizer this winter. So glad I got this one! Check this one out if you are really looking for an effective body lotion for super dry skin.

Did any of the above products made a way into your list??? What have you been loving this winter???

Real Techniques Stippling Brush Review

Amazon India was having some really good deals on Real Techniques brushes on their Republic Day Sale. I wanted to try some of RT brushes already, so when I saw the sale, I ended up buying some brushes at amazing discounts. The brush that I was looking forward to most was the Real Techniques Stippling Brush, and I am sharing my views about the same today.

Price: INR 729 after discount ( How awesome is that!!!)

Product Details (As per website):

This dual-fiber brush is the trade secret for creating airbrushed, high-definition results with all types of makeup:

  • look pixel-perfect even in harsh light
  • ultra-plush, synthetic bristles are hand-cut and 100% cruelty-free
  • self-standing for easy storage
  • extended aluminum handle is light and easy to use

Real Techniques Stippling Brush is a pretty looking brush, with pink and black handle and dual shade fibers. Very cute and girly! It comes securely packed in a plastic see through pack, which keeps its bristles safe during the transportation.

I have never owned a stippling brush before this one, and I really wanted to invest in one. I really love the feel of the bristles of this brush. They are super soft, and feel awesome on the skin. I tried putting on my Mac Studio Sculpt foundation with it, and it worked like a charm! The application was smooth and flawless. I really liked the final result of the foundation with this stippling brush. Just be sure to dot the foundation on face and then stipple, and not pick up the product directly with this brush.

I tried using it with a BB cream as well, and the results were mind blowing with it as well. The finish was extremely smooth and lovely. In my experience this brush works really well with both heavy coverage as well as sheer coverage products. Just for the review purpose, I washed my brush after use and there was no shedding of bristles. Also the bristles restored their previous white tips, making it look extremely clean.

I totally recommend this Real Techniques Stippling Brush to everyone, especially if you are trying out with brushes or struggle with achieving flawless base. I have couple of MAC brushes which I find extremely over priced, these Real techniques brushes are really much more economical and of excellent quantity. If you have to buy just one brush from Real Techniques, I think this should be the one!

Flawed or Fab???

Rating:4.5/5 (Only because there is lot of variation in price of RT brushes in India)

Will I recommend the Real Techniques Stippling Brushes to others???

Definitely yes!!! It is worth a try.
