Forest Essentials Indian Rose Absolute Body Lotion Review

I have been using a couple of things from my last Envy Box, and it is the time to talk about Forest Essentials Indian Rose Absolute Body Lotion. This is one of their ultra rich body lotions.

Price: INR 1175 for 200 ml

Shelf Life: Almost 2 years

IMG_2079

Product Description ( As per the website):

A richly evocative oil, Indian Rose Absolute is one of the world’s most precious essential oils. Timelessly romantic. This body lotion uses burnt Cane Sugar, a humectant which attracts and seals moisture into the skin.

Product Benefits:

This Moisture Drenching Indian Rose Absolute Hand & Body Lotion is enriched with caramelized sugar crystals that retain moisture on the skin and leave it soft and nourished. Kokum butter along with burnt sugar and organic beeswax provide natural hydration and make the skin smooth and supple. Antioxidant properties of Vitamin E and Gokharu reduce the ill effects of free radicals and give lustre to the skin with voluptuous fragrance of Indian Rose Absolute.

Since I have a 50 ml sample size, I checked the website for packaging details. It comes in the typical rectangular plastic body, with a dispensing pump. That is good thing I guess, because the sample bottle that I have does not have a pump, and it gets difficult to get the thick lotion out of the bottle.

The lotion is white in color and has a thick consistency. It has a rose scent, which is seems a bit altered due to other ingredients in the body lotion. But the smell is pleasant, unless you don’t like the sweet smells in general. In that case, the smell can be a little overpowering due to its sweetness.

IMG_2080

The lotion is quite thick in consistency, and you have to work a little to get it completely absorbed in the skin. But once it gets absorbed, there is no greasiness or residue on the skin. The skin feels hydrated and soft after application. The smell lingers on the skin for couple of hours after using, may be for around 2-3 hours.

The good thing about this Indian Rose Absolute Body Lotion is that it instantly hydrates the skin. There is no heaviness or greasy feeling on the skin, and it gives a slight glow to the skin. The skin looks healthy and nourished after using this lotion. The lotion has a luxurious feel to it.

The hydration is not very long lasting though for very dry skin. My skin stays moisturized for around 8-10 hours and it starts feeling a bit dry after that. So if you have dry skin and looking for long hydration, this has to be re-applied. For normal skin, the duration of hydration will definitely be long. Even for dry skin, it will work better in summer than in winter.

Rating: 3.75/5

Have any of you already tried Forest Essentials Indian Rose Absolute Body Lotion??? What are your views on it???

Forest Essentials Panchpushp Facial Tonic Mist Review

I picked up Forest Essentials Panchpushp Facial Tonic Mist as one of the few products that I picked up to give this brand another chance. I had tried a few of Forest Essentials products which unfortunately did not work for me as expected, so I was keeping my distance from this brand. But after giving it a break for sometime, I thought of giving it another chance and so far the products that I have reviewed have been pretty decent. Let’s talk about Forest Essentials Panchpushp facial tonic mist in this post.

Price: INR 650 for 100 ml, INR 1125 for 200 ml

IMG_1517

Product Description (As per website):

This hydrosol or floral water comes from the condensation collected during the steam distillation of flowers when extracting essential oils. This contains five flowers of which the Rose is naturally hydrating, Bela helps in retaining moisture, Marigold is toning, Kewda is softening and Saffron gives a glow to the skin.

Product Benefits:

The skin requires a gentle boost after cleansing to rehydrate and tone and prepare it for a nourishing routine. The freshest flowers of Rose, Marigold, Bela, Kewda and Saffron are steam distilled for their pure essential oils and the hydrating floral water residue is used for this intensely hydrating Facial Toner.”

Directions for use:

Spray onto the face and neck after cleansing to hydrate and freshen the skin. Can be used as often as required during the day.

The panchpushp tonic mist comes in a transparent plastic spray bottle with a cap. I believe it was earlier named as a toner and used to come without a spray pump. The mist is yellow in color. It is a formulation of 5 flowers- rose, bela, marigold, kewda and saffron. The facial mist smells wonderful like all the products from Forest Essentials.

I have been using it after cleansing and using my Clinique clarifying lotion, which is itself a mild exfoliator and a toner. The mist feels nice on the skin, and does not irritate in any way. But it is way too runny, and it runs down the face and neck. It does not get absorbed immediately in the skin Clinique Moisture Surge Spray which is a little disappointing for me. It does hydrate the skin, but again hydration level is not like it is being raved about. I follow it with rest of the products from my skincare regimen.

The product in itself is good, it hydrates to some extent. Though I have not seen any difference in few open pores that I have on my cheeks. I think it will make an excellent facial spray for summers, for it cools down the face and smells amazing. It is going to be an instant pick me up for those hot summer days.

Overall, I like this product though I am not in love with it. I am not sure of using it over the makeup as well, because of its runny nature. For me, it is not going to replace my toner in any way, though I will use it as a facial mist. I am sure I am going to love using it in the coming season.

Rating: 3.5/5

Will I repurchase and recommend Forest Essentials Panchpushp Facial Tonic Mist to others???

I will repurchase it, but purely to use it as a facial mist in summer time. And I will recommend this only if you are looking for a facial mist for a skin with no open pore or other issues.

Have any one of used Forest Essentials Panchpushp Facial Tonic Mist??? What are your thoughts on the same???

Neutrogena Body Oil Review

Moisturizing my skin is such a chore for me, sometimes I get so exhausted!!! But no matter how boring the process is, I try to keep up with it as much as possible. This also pushes me to keep on trying new products, and this time I ended up picking up Neutrogena Body Oil. When I spotted this Neutrogena body oil in NewU, it took me back to days when I used Johnson&Johnson baby oil for my skin. So I decided to give this oil a try.

Price: INR 499 for 250 ml

Shelf Life: 36 months

IMG_1412

Product Description:

Experience Neutrogena Body Oil. Its light sesame formula glides on easy to moisturize dry skin. It’s so sheer it vanishes into shower-damp skin leaving it soft and silky, with a radiant, healthy glow. No moisturizer can touch this experience.

Directions for use:

After Shower or bath: While skin is damp, smooth on a few drops to help seal in moisture. Let your body dry naturally, or simply pat dry with towel.

In the Bath: Add to water and soften your skin while you bathe.”

The Neutrogena Bath Oil comes in their standard packing, transparent plastic bottle with black cap.The oil is light yellow in color. The oil has a strong smell, which some may find pleasant, though it is slightly overpowering and artificial for me. But luckily, the smell is not that strong on skin and mellows down after application on skin.

IMG_1413The formula of the oil is amazingly light. It is a sesame seed oil based formula, something which I have never come across before. It is very easy to work with, and gets absorbed in the skin in the matter of seconds. i use it on slightly damp skin, and it gets absorbed without leaving any greasy feeling. Immediately after application, skin feels soft and hydrated. I tried it on towel dried skin as well, and it got absorbed in skin like a dream! It keeps skin hydrated for couple of hours on its own, and for a very long time if followed by a moisturizer. In summer, it might be able to sustain on its own.

The application is so much easier than those in-shower body moisturizers, as you don’t need to wash them off and this one hydrates much better. I tried it on my skin couple of hours after a shower, and it hydrated my skin equally well. There was no greasy feeling, though it left a shine on the skin. But the shine was not like the one you get with other oils, it was much less intense. I am really enjoying using this oil, and I am so happy that I gave it a try.

Rating:4/5 ( the fragrance is too artificial for my liking)

Will I recommend Neutrogena Body Oil to others???

Yes!!! If you are looking for in-shower hydrating options, this one is a great one to try. The only suggestion is to check the smell before buying so that you don’t find it overpowering later on.

Have you tried the Neutrogena Body Oil??? Which one is you favorite body oil if not this one???

Clinique Moisture Surge Face Spray Review

I am using a lot of Clinique skincare products from the last 3 years or so. I like to try out skincare from other brands every now and then, but I tend to go back to Clinique time and again. I religiously follow their 3-step regimen (though I am planning to skip their face wash for a while now) and I have couple of other products from them as well. Today I am going to review the Clinique Moisture Surge Face Spray.

I got this bottle somewhere in summer of 2014, and have been using it every now and then. The bottle is almost finished and I was not actually planning to review it until one incident happened that made me change my mind. I was not even sure if I wanted to share this small incident with you all, but I now think I do. A little story time…..

I guess all of you might remember how excited I was to get samples from Kiehl’s??? Some time back I decided to give them a try. I decided to use their face wash, toner and much raved about Midnight Recovery Concentrate. I washed my face and toned with the sample provided. So far, so good. And then I applied the Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate on my face. First thing I noticed was that the oil smelled rancid. I checked the expiration date and it was good to go. So I applied it without thinking much. Within 4-5 minutes of applying it, I started to have a burning sensation on my face. I checked in mirror and to my horror, my face was red and small bumps were all over my face!!! I immediately washed my face and popped in an anti-allergic. But there was still a burning sensation on my face, so I went through my stash, picked up this face spray and sprayed it all over my face. With in seconds, my face calmed down, and in a minute or two redness went way down. My skin remained in a pretty bad shape for days, but this facial spray really helped to calm my skin whenever needed. So this is the story…..

IMG_1236

Price: INR 2000 for 125 ml (the prices may have changed now)

Clinique Moisture Surge Spray comes in a pale pink plastic bottle with a spray pump. It is a sturdy packaging, and I always like the quality of their pump sprays, which is way better than the Forest Essentials one.

I bought this product in the summers, for that quick hydration that the dry skin needs at times even in the summer season. Although it was effective in calming my skin, I did not end up using much in summer. This could be probably because at home I preferred applying moisturizer whenever I can, and I found it bulky to travel with in my handbag. But it is a great spray to hydrate dry or itchy skin, especially in summer, as it provides a cooling effect as well.

I have used it over my makeup as setting spray as well, and believe me, it works very well in that area as well. It sets my makeup as well as hydrates at the same time. It is also a great product to apply whenever you feel that your makeup is a drying up your skin after a long wear.

I have used it extensively this winter, because sometimes my skin felt dehydrated even after couple of hours of moisturization. But the best use of this spray has been to calm down itchy and irritated skin. I have used it on my face after sun exposure as well, and it immediately calms down the skin.

The best thing about this face spray is its consistency. Although it is watery in texture, it sticks to your face when sprayed and does not run down the face. I have faced this problem with Forest Essentials toner, which when sprayed, runs all over your face. This in turn sticks to your skin and gets absorbed quickly.

The only con for me is that if sprayed a little too much especially in summer, it may feel sticky. Other than that, it is a perfect facial spray and the latest incident has restored my faith in this wonderful product all over again.

Flawed or Fab?

FAB!!!!

Will I repurchase and recommend Clinique Moisture Surge Face Spray to others????

Yes to both.

Nivea In-Shower Body Moisturiser Review

Hope every one had a fun weekend. I am back with another review, and this time it is for Nivea In-Shower Body Moisturiser for dry skin. One of the major trouble for the dry skinned beauties is to keep their hydrated, so that it does not end up looking scaly and rough. I have very dry skin in winters, and since I am lazy, I keep on looking for easier methods for hydrating my body. This is when I bought this body conditioner from Nivea, and let me share my experience.

Price: INR 250 for 250 ml

Shelf Life: 30 months from date of manufacturing

IMG_0949Directions for use:

Use your normal soap/body wash and rinse off

Apply NIVEA’s In-Shower Body Moisturiser on wet skin while still in the shower

Leave it on for 2 minutes and then rinse off

Dry yourself, and get dressed immediately. Leaves no residues in towels

The Nivea In-Shower Body Moisturiser comes packed in a blue tube packaging, with a flip cap. The packaging is quite sturdy, but as is the case with tube packaging, it is hard to get the body conditioner out when you reach towards the end. The body conditioner is white is color, and thick in consistency, and has a smell that is some what chemical in nature. The smell stays on body for a while, but the smell could be troublesome for people with sensitive nose.

I use the body conditioner as directed. Firstly, I find that it is hard to wash off. I keep on getting a slippery feeling even when I have washed off many times, and the feeling is relieved only when I towel dry my skin. Secondly, as mentioned on the product itself, it tends to make the floor slippery, and you have to be careful to wash off the floor well.

Now coming to the hydrating part, I started using it before the winters, and it did moisturize my skin. But if I did not follow it up with a body moisturiser, it started to feel dry after 2-3 hours. Not impressed! In winters though, it performed even worse and I had to religiously follow it up with a body moisturizer. All it did for me that it provided a healthy sheen to the skin for sometime but nothing much.

I did not enjoy using the product that much. It might be hydrating enough for normal skin, but not for dry skin. If I have to follow up with a moisturizer after using it, then there is no point for me to add an extra step in shower.

In my opinion, try this only if you have normal skin, and find out if it works out for you. I think dry skin beauties can invest in something better than this one.

Rating: 2.5/5

Will I repurchase or recommend Nivea In-Shower Body Moisturiser to others????

I will not repurchase it, and will recommend it only to people with normal skin, and see if that works for them.

Have any one of you tried Nivea In-Shower Body Moisturiser??? If yes, please share how it worked out for you.

5 Favorite Products This Winter

I can’t believe that January is almost over. It just felt like it had only two weeks, the first with all the joy and fun of a new year, and then straight into the last week. Since the month is about to end, I think this is a perfect time to share 5 products I loved the most this winter. This is the first time that I have used all of these products and I am in love with them already!!!

IMG_0948

For face, I loved using Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant a lot. This was my first product from this brand, and I totally loved using it as an exfoliator this winter. Though I have been using it 2-3 times a week rather than daily as recommended, I am totally happy with the results. This has taken a place in my routine as my scrub, and you can read more about it here.

For my eyes, I have been loving the Kaya Brightening and Firming Serum, which I have recently reviewed here. It is a product that has really worked well for my eyes despite all my doubts, and I am excited to see how much better the results can be in future.

My lips have been loving my new lip balm, The Bodyshop Vitamin E Lip Care. This has completely bowled  me over, and I think I am going to use it for a long time. My go to lip color has been Rouge Dior Baume 660 Coquette, again a new product that I am totally in love with! I don’t have to think even once before putting it on, because I know my lips will be totally taken care of along with the lovely color. Check out the shade here if you already have not!

Last but not the least, Jergens Ultra Healing has been my most beloved body moisturizer this winter. So glad I got this one! Check this one out if you are really looking for an effective body lotion for super dry skin.

Did any of the above products made a way into your list??? What have you been loving this winter???

Victoria’s Secret Sheer Love Body Butter Review

I was not planning to blog today. The cold weather got the better of me, and I am having a sore throat and fever since last night. But since I am feeling a little better now, I thought…. why not???

I have been using Victoria’s Secret Sheer Love Deep Softening Body Butter for a week now. As I have already mentioned in my earlier blog here , it is a gift from Australia. Unfortunately, that is the reason I don’t know the exact price of this one. But I have been looking it up online, and it is available for INR 999 at Flipkart and somewhere around INR 2500 at Amazon!!!

VS Body ButterThe one that I have is White Cotton & Pink Lilydeep softening body butter. It is packed in a pink plastic tub container with a golden plastic lid. Now the consistency of this body butter is something that I have never come across earlier. It is pale pink in color, and has a jelly like consistency to touch. It resists your attempt to go deeper in the pot, so you end up using the product from the top layers only. Quite interesting to me!

The body butter is easy to spread, and gets absorbed quickly in the skin. Though it leaves a slight shine on the skin, it is not one of those look-i-have-oil-on-my-skin kinds. It is more of look-i-have-glowing-skin kinds! And I like that a lot. The only problem I face is applying it on the back, because I find it hard to apply there due to its thick consistency. But to solve that problem, I just warm up the body butter in between my fingers a little bit and it is good to go.

This body butter moisturizes my skin well, but not upto 24 hours like the Jergens Ultra Healing does. That said, it is still an amazing product, especially for normal skin in the winter. I will have to see how it works out in the summers for me, but I have high hopes given it’s current performance on my dehydrated skin.

The only con that I can find is the smell, which I don’t enjoy that much, but I know that’s just me!!! It reminds me of Vaseline body lotion which I didn’t enjoy, so that could be the reason for my disliking.

In my opinion, this is a wonderful product from Victoria’s Secret, and though it is not readily available in India, you should definitely try it out if you can get your hands on it!

Flawed or Fab???

Will I repurchase the Victoria’s Secret Sheer Love Body Butter???

Probably no, and that’s just because of the smell and nothing else. I will love to try out other body butters from VS for sure! You listening bro and sis-in-law??? 🙂

5 Products in my current skincare routine

I have dry combination skin, which is sensitive in nature. During winter, it is more dry rather than dry combination. Also my skin has lots of issues. I have pigmentation, dark spots and roughness every now and then on my face. For a long time, I struggled to even find a decent moisturizer for my skin, as most of them didn’t provided any deep goodness for my skin. But for now, I have at least the basics sorted out to a certain extend. My routine is a very simple one on daily basis. I do certain things once or twice a week occasionally, but they will not be included here. The following are the products currently in my skincare routine:20151219_121953

  1. Clinique Liquid Facial Soap: The first step is of course cleansing. I use Clinique Liquid Facial soap for dry combination skin. Honestly, it is a very regular kind of face wash. It cleans the face just like any other face wash will do. It leaves my face a bit dry after every wash, but takes away majority of dirt while washing. I have been using this face wash for almost 2 years now, from the first time I tried it as a part of Clinique 3 step skincare kit. It is an expensive face wash with nothing much to offer. I am planning to change my face wash after this one finishes, because it is doing nothing that a 100 buck face wash can’t do.
  2. Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant: Well, this is the latest addition to my skincare. It has replaced my Oriflame face scrub, which is almost finished. I have a detailed review about this product recently here. I am totally in love with it and highly recommend it. Though it says it is ideal to be used every day, I am going to use it couple of times a week now and see how it works.
  3. Clinique Clarifying Lotion: This is again one product that I love a lot. A detailed review is here. It works wonderfully well in taking away all the dead skin and leaving your face ready for absorbing the products you are planning to put on. I have been using it for 2 years as well, and may replace it only to try some new products. If nothing works better, this is the one to come back to.
  4. Estee Lauder Advanced Night Serum: I have been using this serum for almost 8 months now. I am about to finish my 3rd bottle, but I haven’t seen any major results. Detailed review is already here. This is one step that I have to seriously reconsider and come up with something better. Any suggestions anyone???
  5. Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion: This is the final and most important step for me. I am using  Clinique dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion, again for 2 years now. This is another product from Clinique that has worked well for my skin. No other moisturizer has managed to hydrate my skin so well, without making it greasy or causing breakouts.

Any suggestions from anyone for the things I need to change in my skincare?? Also I will love to hear about how you all take care of your beautiful skin!

Forest Essentials Intensive Eye Cream With Anise Review

I always wanted to try something from Forest Essentials, and my first purchase ended up to be Forest Essentials Intensive Eye Cream with Anise. When I entered the store intrigued by the beautiful aroma coming out of the store, and discussed with the SA what my problem was, he recommended this eye cream. Feeling already too relaxed with all the fragrances surrounding me, I didn’t get into much discussion and bought it in within a matter of minutes. And I happily moved out of the store.

Forest Essentials Intensive Eye cream with Anise

Forest Essentials Eye cream

Price: INR 1750 for 15 gm

The official website describes the product as:

“An innovative formula specially designed for the delicate eye area. It reduces dark circles, diminishes puffiness, and firms and tones area around the eyes. Active extracts of Papaya and Potato starch help deliver hydration and moisture to the delicate eye area. Anise infusion help to smooth skin, reducing the appearance of dry, dehydrated lines.”

I suffer from serious dark circles around my eyes. Although at times they lighten for a few days by themselves, but most of the time they are staring right into my face, of course when I look at myself in the mirror 😉 , and my eye area is dry like rest of my face.

The eye cream comes in a small glass jar with a golden cap. The packing is luxurious. The eye cream is white in color, with no obvious smell to it. The product is creamy in texture and glides on easily.

I have almost hit the bottom of the pan, and honestly I am disappointed with the product. Yes, it does hydrate the eye area well and brighten it a little bit. But even my moisturizer does that well. The whole idea of buying a separate eye cream fails, because it did nothing for my dark circles, puffiness or fine lines.  There is nothing extraordinary about this Forest Essentials Intensive eye cream with Anise.

For the steep price that I have paid for a small quantity of this product, I would have loved to see some visible effects. I used it for almost a month, and I don’t see any reason to give it another chance.

All this said and done, I will still buy some more Forest Essentials product and hope that this Eye cream one of the only products from this brand with which I had a bad experience.

Rating: 2/5

Clinique Moisture Surge Overnight Mask Review

Another Review!

Another Skin care product!

Another Clinique product!

Sitting here trying to write this review, I am wondering why I have so many Clinique products. It’s not that I am in love with all the Clinique products ( except the Clarifying lotion I must say), but still somehow I end up buying one or the other product from them over the time. I think their product range silently talks to a person like me who keeps on fighting with dry skin!

I bought the Clinique Moisture Surge Overnight Mask last year in the winters. And I still have some product left with me in the first tube itself. So, what does it say about the product? Hmmm….

DSC_0648

Price: INR 2300 for 100 ml

I never used an overnight mask before I bought this one. The whole idea of an overnight mask really appealed to me, and the fact that it belonged to their famous moisture surge range further pushed me towards buying it. The mask comes in pale pink tube with silver cap. The mask itself is a slight pink in color, with no smell to it.

My skin gets a little bit more dry in winters, so I decided to give it an extra pampering. So one night, I put on this mask on my face before sleeping. I just used it like a moisturizer. It instantly made my face plump and hydrated!!! And no stickiness!! I went to sleep like a happy bunny.

The next morning my face felt very soft and hydrated. The mask had performed really well on its promise! But by the evening, I started noticing a breakout on my face.

Nothing to worry, I thought!

It happens sometimes, I thought!

I used the mask again that week, and some new breakouts the next day! 😦

I discontinued the use for couple of days, and decided to use again after my skin healed. And once I again used it, I again had the breakouts! Over the last year, I have tried to use it time and again, with the same results. After I failed to achieve perfect results with it on the face, I started using it sometimes on my dry legs. And it is working fine that way. Probably my face skin is acting too sensitive to the formula, which is making it to break out.

So long story short, Clinique Moisture Surge Overnight Mask definitely does what it claims in broad terms- it hydrates skin well, leaving it soft and plum. But the breakouts after every use are a deal breaker for me.

Rating: 3/5 (Purely because it does what it claims, that is hydrate my skin well)

Flawed or Fab???

Fab with some flaws

Will I repurchase it again??

I will not, but only because of the breakouts it gives me.

In case you think that your dry skin can handle it, you should definitely give it a try.

Have any one of you had similar, better or worse experience with Clinique Moisture Surge Overnight Mask??? Please share in the comments.
