Forest Essentials Indian Rose Absolute Body Lotion Review

I have been using a couple of things from my last Envy Box, and it is the time to talk about Forest Essentials Indian Rose Absolute Body Lotion. This is one of their ultra rich body lotions.

Price: INR 1175 for 200 ml

Shelf Life: Almost 2 years

Product Description ( As per the website):

A richly evocative oil, Indian Rose Absolute is one of the world’s most precious essential oils. Timelessly romantic. This body lotion uses burnt Cane Sugar, a humectant which attracts and seals moisture into the skin.

Product Benefits:

This Moisture Drenching Indian Rose Absolute Hand & Body Lotion is enriched with caramelized sugar crystals that retain moisture on the skin and leave it soft and nourished. Kokum butter along with burnt sugar and organic beeswax provide natural hydration and make the skin smooth and supple. Antioxidant properties of Vitamin E and Gokharu reduce the ill effects of free radicals and give lustre to the skin with voluptuous fragrance of Indian Rose Absolute.

Since I have a 50 ml sample size, I checked the website for packaging details. It comes in the typical rectangular plastic body, with a dispensing pump. That is good thing I guess, because the sample bottle that I have does not have a pump, and it gets difficult to get the thick lotion out of the bottle.

The lotion is white in color and has a thick consistency. It has a rose scent, which is seems a bit altered due to other ingredients in the body lotion. But the smell is pleasant, unless you don’t like the sweet smells in general. In that case, the smell can be a little overpowering due to its sweetness.

The lotion is quite thick in consistency, and you have to work a little to get it completely absorbed in the skin. But once it gets absorbed, there is no greasiness or residue on the skin. The skin feels hydrated and soft after application. The smell lingers on the skin for couple of hours after using, may be for around 2-3 hours.

The good thing about this Indian Rose Absolute Body Lotion is that it instantly hydrates the skin. There is no heaviness or greasy feeling on the skin, and it gives a slight glow to the skin. The skin looks healthy and nourished after using this lotion. The lotion has a luxurious feel to it.

The hydration is not very long lasting though for very dry skin. My skin stays moisturized for around 8-10 hours and it starts feeling a bit dry after that. So if you have dry skin and looking for long hydration, this has to be re-applied. For normal skin, the duration of hydration will definitely be long. Even for dry skin, it will work better in summer than in winter.

Forest Essentials Facial Scrub Hand Pounded Organic Fruit Review

Today I will be reviewing the Forest Essentials Facial Scrub Hand Pounded Organic Fruit, which I received as a part of my February Envy Box. I received a decent sample size, and used it a couple of times already. I thought of sharing my views on the products I received this time as all sample are decent sized to use and find out whether I liked it or not.

Price: INR 1675 for 50 gm

Product Details (As per website):

This nourishing face scrub, hand-pounded to the right consistency, blends fresh organically grown Dates, Peaches and Almond seeds with rich Apricot Kernel oil, pure Honey and finely milled Almonds to gently exfoliate dull cells, revealing a beautifully polished and glowing complexion.

Product Benefits:

Derived from the unique Fal Yukth Gharshan Lep, this facial scrub uses a variety of fruit with exfoliating properties along with other natural plant extracts. These ingredients are fermented by placing them in terracotta jars buried under the ground for many months, and then blended with herb, root and flower infusions to create a highly nourishing and deep cleansing scrub.

How to use:

Use a small amount on damp skin and rub gently to cleanse. Rinse well.

Since I have a sample of this product, I don’t know actually about the packaging apart from that it comes in a tub form, like many other products of Forest Essentials. The scrub is a thick sticky paste, and is dark brown in color. It looks like some sort of chutney or thick jam. There are some coarse granules visible in the paste itself.

Forest Essentials Facial Scrub Hand Pounded Organic Fruit

I find the scrub too thick in consistency. It applies well only on moist face, after the scrub has been diluted a little as well. The scrub is mainly smooth, but it has some coarse granules which are a bit too harsh on sensitive skin. Since I have a sensitive skin, I find it difficult to prevent them from irritating my skin a little.

The good thing is that it leaves the skin smooth and polished after use. It is a good scrub to use at nose and chin area, which normally have more black heads than rest of the face. But still one has to be careful about the pressure. It also imparts a slight glow to the skin, and it looks a little more hydrated.

There is another issue that I faced with this scrub. I normally use my scrub after washing my face with a face wash, and I rinse my face just with plain water after using a scrub. With this scrub, there was a layer of residue left on my face which comes out only when I clean it with face wash or toner. That is not something that I have faced with any of my scrubs before, and I don’t like it.

Also, the smell of this scrub is not very pleasant. Although it has hints of rose to it, but the dries fruits overcome it and the smell of the fermented fruits is bothersome to me. Unfortunately, the smell lingers on the skin for a long time as well.

So in my opinion this Forest Essential Facial scrub is a bit harsh for sensitive skin on a regular basis. I scrub my face 2-3 times a week, and I can think of using it once a week max. This scrub will be better for people with normal non-sensitive skin, if they can go past the smell. For me, it is a very average product, not worth the money that you have to spend on it.

I know many of you might have already tried this Forest Essentials Facial Scrub Hand Pounded Organic Fruit.I would love to hear your experiences with this one.

My Envy Box February 2016

I subscribed to My Envy Box for the first time this month. I am not a huge fan of the subscription options currently available in Indian market. I subscribed to fabbag for December, and the only product I liked was Sugar Crayon Scarlett O’Hara , I did not even use rest of the items. But this month when I came to know that Forest Essentials is celebrating 15 years with My Envy Box, I had to get it! I have been trying to test Forest Essentials products, and since they almost never go on sale, I decided to pick this one up to try.

Price: INR 850 for 1 month (Longer sbscriptions available at discounted price

This time it is a white Envy Box, which houses 5 products from Forest Essentials, very nicely packed. I got a list of products included in the box, and a coupon for 10% discount on Forest Essentials site. It also had a coupon for 10% discount on the designer jewelry box, which I think I am not going to use. Let’s have a look at the contents of the box.

Forest Essentials Silkening Shower Wash: A decent sample of 50 ml of this body wash, containing Mashobra Honey and Vanilla is a part of this box. It is priced at INR 295 for that quantity, a full size bottle should be by far more reasonably priced in my opinion. It smells great and I am going to try it soon.

Forest Essentials Ultra Rich Dazzling Body Lotion: Again another decent sample size of 50 ml, this one is priced at INR 375. I am excited to use this one as I am always on hunt for good moisturizers for my dry skin. This one is supposed to have Kokum butter along with other ingredients, which is supposed to be great for dry skin.

Forest Essentials Luxury Sugar Soap: A 125 gm of this luxury soap containing Neem, basil & honey is priced at INR 295. Again a decent size to use and make an opinion, I am having high hopes from this one as well.

Forest Essentials Hand Pounded Organic Fruit Scrub: This 8 gm sample is priced at INR 575! This has hand grounded dates, peaches and almond seeds along with other ingredients. Although the sample size looks small, I am sure I can use it couple of times and know it works on my skin.

Forest Essentials Lightening&Brightening Tejasvi Emulsion: This too is a 8 gm sample, and is priced at INR 675! Again I am lucky to get another product meant for dry skin, as this one is supposed to contain Ghee, which it smells like too. Honestly not a fan of this fragrance, but still not that bad that I can’t give it a try.

All and all, I am really happy with MY Envy Box February 2016. The samples for 850 bucks are pretty good, and I am glad it did not turn out to be having products that I would not like to use. Also the box reached me within 2 days of ordering, which is great given the time fabbag takes! If you are looking forward to try some new Forest Essentials products, then I will highly recommend giving this month’s box a try! Looking forward to try them all!

I am sure some of you already must have subscribed to the box. Please share how you felt about this month’s My Envy Box!

Forest Essentials Panchpushp Facial Tonic Mist Review

I picked up Forest Essentials Panchpushp Facial Tonic Mist as one of the few products that I picked up to give this brand another chance. I had tried a few of Forest Essentials products which unfortunately did not work for me as expected, so I was keeping my distance from this brand. But after giving it a break for sometime, I thought of giving it another chance and so far the products that I have reviewed have been pretty decent. Let’s talk about Forest Essentials Panchpushp facial tonic mist in this post.

Price: INR 650 for 100 ml, INR 1125 for 200 ml

Product Description (As per website):

This hydrosol or floral water comes from the condensation collected during the steam distillation of flowers when extracting essential oils. This contains five flowers of which the Rose is naturally hydrating, Bela helps in retaining moisture, Marigold is toning, Kewda is softening and Saffron gives a glow to the skin.

Product Benefits:

The skin requires a gentle boost after cleansing to rehydrate and tone and prepare it for a nourishing routine. The freshest flowers of Rose, Marigold, Bela, Kewda and Saffron are steam distilled for their pure essential oils and the hydrating floral water residue is used for this intensely hydrating Facial Toner.”

Directions for use:

Spray onto the face and neck after cleansing to hydrate and freshen the skin. Can be used as often as required during the day.

The panchpushp tonic mist comes in a transparent plastic spray bottle with a cap. I believe it was earlier named as a toner and used to come without a spray pump. The mist is yellow in color. It is a formulation of 5 flowers- rose, bela, marigold, kewda and saffron. The facial mist smells wonderful like all the products from Forest Essentials.

I have been using it after cleansing and using my Clinique clarifying lotion, which is itself a mild exfoliator and a toner. The mist feels nice on the skin, and does not irritate in any way. But it is way too runny, and it runs down the face and neck. It does not get absorbed immediately in the skin Clinique Moisture Surge Spray which is a little disappointing for me. It does hydrate the skin, but again hydration level is not like it is being raved about. I follow it with rest of the products from my skincare regimen.

The product in itself is good, it hydrates to some extent. Though I have not seen any difference in few open pores that I have on my cheeks. I think it will make an excellent facial spray for summers, for it cools down the face and smells amazing. It is going to be an instant pick me up for those hot summer days.

Overall, I like this product though I am not in love with it. I am not sure of using it over the makeup as well, because of its runny nature. For me, it is not going to replace my toner in any way, though I will use it as a facial mist. I am sure I am going to love using it in the coming season.

Rating: 3.5/5

Will I repurchase and recommend Forest Essentials Panchpushp Facial Tonic Mist to others???

I will repurchase it, but purely to use it as a facial mist in summer time. And I will recommend this only if you are looking for a facial mist for a skin with no open pore or other issues.

Have any one of used Forest Essentials Panchpushp Facial Tonic Mist??? What are your thoughts on the same???

Forest Essentials Lip Scrub Review- Cane Sugar

First of all, a very Happy Republic Day! This week has started slow for me, I have not written much and it is already Tuesday. The winter is getting harsh and making me lazy. But today I am determined to write at least one post. I am going to review my recent purchase- Forest Essentials Cane Sugar Lip Scrub.

Price: INR 475 for 8 g

Product Description ( As per website):

Our lip scrub, with sugar cane juice, sugar crystals and beeswax, is used to gently exfoliate dry dead skin on your lips and prepare them for a nourishing butter lip balm“.

Key Ingredients:

Sunflower seed oil, Jojoba Oil, Olive Fruit Oil, Kokum Seed Butter, Organic Beeswax, Cane Sugar, Vitamin E, Grape Juice, Rose Flower Extract, Sweet Orange Peel Oil.

The scrub comes packed in a small transparent tub with golden cap. Me Like 🙂 . The scrub smells amazing too. It has a very sweet smell to it, though it is not over powering at all. I am not a fan of fruity smell, but I like this one a lot. It is light yellow in color, and it is solid in consistency at room temperature. However, I think as the weather will change, it’s consistency will change to a bit more runny. The product has a shelf life of 1 year.

I need a very small amount for my lips. Now When i tried it on my hand, I found it a bit harsh, but surprisingly it feels very gentle on lips. I gently exfoliate my lips using a small amount and I am good to go. It feels very moisturizing on lips and effectively removes all the dead and dry skin. I gently wipe it with a tissue and keep it that way before washing it off after some times. I do not need a lip balm for some time after using it. I simply LOVEEEE this lip scrub. After some failures with the brand, I think I am now hitting it off quite well.

This lip scrub is such an efficient product. Although lip scrub can be easily made at home using some of the ingredients mentioned, but I find it perfect for lazy people like me who will not like to go through that trouble, or for days when you are short on time but need to really take care of dry lips. A must have in your stash in my opinion!

Rating: 4/5 ( Might feel a bit expensive)

Will I repurchase and recommend Forest Essentials Lip Scrub Cane Sugar to others???

Yes, I will definitely recommend it as well as repurchase it when needed. Although I think it will take a long time to finish this one.

Any one of you have tried this Forest Essentials lip scrub yet???? Please share your experiences with me if you have.

December 2015 Empties

There are couple of things I managed to finish up in December last year, and I thought of sharing a mini review of these products. I managed to finish some hair care and skin care products in this month. Unfortunately, I am never able to finish my makeup products, and most of the time they have to be thrown out by the end of their expiry date. I will try to share what I am getting rid off in makeup, when I manage to do some clearing off.

IMG_0175Forest Essentials Eye cream : The first one is an eye cream, the Forest Essentials Intensive Eye cream with Anise. I didn’t enjoy this eye cream, because it failed to do anything good for my under eye area. A detailed review of this eye cream is here.

I will not be buying this eye cream again. Any recommendations from your side???

Dove Oxygen Moisture shampoo: This is the first time that I tried this shampoo, and I must say it is good. It smells great, and leaves my hair smooth and shiny. A nice decent budget friendly shampoo, it comes at INR 292 for 340 ml. I will definitely buy it again, and recommend to anyone looking for a good shampoo for lifeless rough hair.

L’oreal Total Repair 5 hair masque: Another hair product that I managed to finish is this hair masque from L’oreal. A detailed review of this product can be seen here.

Nivea Soft Light Moisturizer: Now this one from Nivea has been my favorite for a long time. I know a lot of people love this light cream. I do not use it for my face. Rather, it is a favorite for my feet and hands. I love using it on my hands especially before sleeping. I love the mild fragrance and the fact that it can be used in so many ways. Very economical cream, it is a must have in my case, because I feel that every one in the family can find one way or the other to include this cream in their daily routine.

Maybelline Baby Lips Color Berry Sherbet: I have mentioned it a number of times now that I love Maybelline Baby Lips. I have just finished the one in color Berry Sherbet. Honestly, I did not enjoy these colored ones as much as I like the original ones. They are not that hydrating on lips. I will not repurchase these ones again.

Lakme Sun Expert SF30++ : I am not very regular with my sunscreens. I know that is a bad thing, but somehow I feel my skin can’t breathe whenever I have sunscreen on. But last month we were lucky enough to have lots of sunshine in the cold weather, so I tried to be regular with this sunscreen when ever going out. Initially I felt a bit weird using it, but now I don’t have that much trouble using it. It also prevented any tanning since the time I started using it.

Nike Woman Free Soul Deodorant: Last but not the least, I finished up this deo from Nike. It has a very nice long lasting smell. I will repurchase it again in the summer, as right now I am trying out another one.

I hope you enjoyed the post. Any products from the list that you used up in the last month??? Please share your experiences with me.

Forest Essentials Tranquil Sleep Review

I know I am the last one to wish all of you Happy New Year, but here I am Finally!!! I wish all of you a very happy 2016 and wish that this becomes the happiest year of your lives. I am looking forward to spend a little more time in knowing all of you this year, as I  have enjoyed all the little time that I have had with you all!!! I have been a bit occupied lately, but I hope to more regular now on wards.

The first post of 2016 on my blog will be of an usual product. This one is Forest Essentials Tranquil Sleep, which is a blend of oils concocted to induce a calm restful sleep. The key ingredients of this blend are Sandalwood Essential oil, Geranium Essential oil, Nutmeg Essential Oil and Lavender Essential oil.

IMG_0173Price: INR 695 for 10 ml

Directions to use:

Use on the pillow and neck, for maximum effect.

Although it is a natural product, the company wants the customers to make sure that they are not allergic to natural products.

Now I love sleeping. I love to sleep for long hours at stretch, and get cranky if I don’t get my beloved sleep. Forever that I can remember, I have trouble initiating sleep. It takes a long time, sometimes even hours, to fall asleep. And at times, it gets irritating… lying in the bed in the  dark, eyes closed, waiting to fall asleep! So when I saw this product during my last visit to the FE store, I thought of giving it a try.

Forest Essentials Tranquil Sleep comes packed in transparent spray bottle with a black cap. This has a shelf life of around 9 months. The downfall of the packaging is that it leaks from the top when sprayed, which when I checked with the SA, is a common occurrence in this product.

I have used it couple of times now, and I must say, I am impressed with this blend!!! I use it as per directions, on the back of my ears and on my pillow. It smells heavenly!!! I love how it smells, and honestly the fragrance itself calms down in a moment. The oil blend has helped me to fall asleep on most of the nights that I have used it. I don’t really know how it is supposed to induce sleep, but the product packaging describes as a sedative blend of pure essential oils that help to unwind and relax. And in my case, I have actually felt that it helps to relax me and helps to fall asleep faster.

I will just like to explain how I feel it is helping me to relax and achieve a calmer sleep. First and foremost, the smell of this blend is amazing. Once I apply it, my mind starts concentrating on the fragrance automatically, and I start feeling relaxed. I have also realized that it helps to relieve tension in my neck and shoulder muscles a little bit as well, although it does not claim to do any such thing!!! But hey, that is how I feel it is working on me!!!

I am highly impressed how this product has fared so far. I had my share of bad experiences with Forest Essentials products earlier, and I am glad that finally a product from this brand has worked for me. Though I think this product will not be able to help people with severe insomnia, I highly recommend it to people who have trouble falling asleep due to stress or those who have disturbed sleep. A unique product that helps in physical well being!!!

Flawed or fab???

Rating: 4/5 (High price and flimsy packaging is only concern)

Will I repurchase and recommend Forest Essentials Tranquil Sleep to others?

Yes, I am definitely going to buy it again, especially for the nights that I am exhausted or stressed. I will also recommend it to people having disturbed sleep.

Has anyone of you tried out this product yet? And how has been the year 2016 for all of you so far??? Please do share with me.

Forest Essentials Intensive Eye Cream With Anise Review

I always wanted to try something from Forest Essentials, and my first purchase ended up to be Forest Essentials Intensive Eye Cream with Anise. When I entered the store intrigued by the beautiful aroma coming out of the store, and discussed with the SA what my problem was, he recommended this eye cream. Feeling already too relaxed with all the fragrances surrounding me, I didn’t get into much discussion and bought it in within a matter of minutes. And I happily moved out of the store.

Forest Essentials Intensive Eye cream with Anise

Forest Essentials Eye cream

Price: INR 1750 for 15 gm

The official website describes the product as:

“An innovative formula specially designed for the delicate eye area. It reduces dark circles, diminishes puffiness, and firms and tones area around the eyes. Active extracts of Papaya and Potato starch help deliver hydration and moisture to the delicate eye area. Anise infusion help to smooth skin, reducing the appearance of dry, dehydrated lines.”

I suffer from serious dark circles around my eyes. Although at times they lighten for a few days by themselves, but most of the time they are staring right into my face, of course when I look at myself in the mirror 😉 , and my eye area is dry like rest of my face.

The eye cream comes in a small glass jar with a golden cap. The packing is luxurious. The eye cream is white in color, with no obvious smell to it. The product is creamy in texture and glides on easily.

I have almost hit the bottom of the pan, and honestly I am disappointed with the product. Yes, it does hydrate the eye area well and brighten it a little bit. But even my moisturizer does that well. The whole idea of buying a separate eye cream fails, because it did nothing for my dark circles, puffiness or fine lines.  There is nothing extraordinary about this Forest Essentials Intensive eye cream with Anise.

For the steep price that I have paid for a small quantity of this product, I would have loved to see some visible effects. I used it for almost a month, and I don’t see any reason to give it another chance.

All this said and done, I will still buy some more Forest Essentials product and hope that this Eye cream one of the only products from this brand with which I had a bad experience.

Rating: 2/5

Flawed or Fab???

Will I repurchase Forest Essentials Intensive Eye Cream With Anise?

Any of you have tried this eye cream??? What other Forest Essentials product will you recommend to use??
