Lakme Enrich Satin P152 Review

Lakme Enrich Satin Lipsticks have been in the market for a long time. Earlier, they used to come in those dark maroonish purple packing. The packing used to look boring and tacky, but the shades at that time were great for the price, and Lakme lipsticks used to a hit among the ladies. Last year, they changed their packing and came out with some new shades, along with the original shades as well. I don’t have many lipsticks from Lakme, so I picked up couple of shades. The one that I will review today is Lakme Enrich Satin P152.

Price: INR 260 for 4.3 gm ( Though you can get it cheaper online)

Shelf Life: 24

The new packaging is such a relief from the old. Now the Lakme Enrich Satin Lipsticks come in a transparent and silver combination, with the logo clearly standing out on the side. I will not say that the packaging is classy, but it is way better than what it used to be earlier.

The texture of this particular lipstick is very creamy. It glides on lips very easily, and provides a beautiful creamy look to the lips. It is not glittery or frosty, and I think that is great for Indian skin tones because frosty colors don’t go that well with Indian complexion. The lipstick does not feel sticky or drying on lips, though I will recommend using it on well hydrated lips to get a better finish.

Lakme Enrich Satin in P152 falls in pink color category according to the brand. In my opinion, the shade is more towards the Mauve shade, as it has lots of earthy undertone. The color in itself is very pretty and pigmented. I needed just one swipe to cover my moderately pigmented lips and get a great color deposit. Now some people may find this color a bit mature. To me, it is a sophisticated kind of mature shade, and not the old kinds. But in case you don’t like such colors, this shade may not be sure.

The lipstick is transferable due to its creamy texture, and therefore, does not last for more than 2.5-3 hours on the lips in its true color. It does leave a nice tint on the lips though, and does not leave the lips completely bare. The shade can further be toned down by blotting it after application, in case you don’t want it too dark. It does not dry lips a lot, although it is not hydrating in itself.

In my opinion, the Lakme Enrich Saitn lipsticks have a decent formula and color pay off for the price. It is a great buy especially if you are on a budget.

Rating: 3.5/5

Will I recommend Lakme Enrich Satin in P152 to others???

I recommend this shade to any one who loves a creamy dark pink shade with earthy undertones. Even if this shade is nit for you, I will definitely recommend trying out some other shades if you have not tried yet.

How many of you have tried out the Lakme Enrich Satin Lipstick Range??? Which is your favorite shade of the lot????

Kiehl’s Lip Balm #1 Review

Another lip product review! As I have already mentioned in one of my blogs, I had no intention of buying this one, but bought it just for courtesy sake. After trying out Maybelline Baby Lips Candy Wow, a detailed review of which is here, I started trying this Kiehl’s Lip Balm #1 and I am ready to review it.

Price: INR 595 for 15 ml

IMG_0131Product Details:

Temporarily protects and helps soothe dry lips. Helps shield lips from the drying effects of wind and cold weather. Apply liberally, and allow an excess of the balm to be absorbed.

Let’s talk about the packaging first. Not a fan! Not only is the packaging very boring, it also is not very functional. It comes in a white tube packing with a black cap. It is hard to apply from the tube itself, I take a little amount on the finger and then apply it on the lips. At least a stick packaging would have been more convenient.

Now coming to the product itself. I am very confused with what I have received. Firstly, while trying to read it’s manufacturing date, I read it to be 04/2015. Later on I realized that it was actually the importing date, and not the manufacturing date, which happened to be 05/2014!!! Now I expect to get such an old manufactured product while ordering online or another channel, but getting such an old product from the store itself was a bit disappointing. Although it is good till 36 months from the date of manufacturing, still I feel a bit unhappy.

The product itself is dirty yellow in color with thick consistency, like that of vaseline. When I checked online, because I expected it to be colorless, I found out that I was right!!! I don’t know what to say! The smell was also a little off, like some oil gone rancid.

It took a little courage to try it on my lips. Though the product worked fine and did not cause any reactions or so, I am reluctant to use it again. It made my lips soft, but nothing special that other lip balms are not doing. I am not sure if the product that I have got is some how gone bad or what… I am not going to continue using it. I will bring up the issue with the store when I next visit them.

Totally disappointed!!!

Rating: 2/5 (Only because I think I might have got a product gone wrong)

Maybelline Lip Gradation-Pink 2 Review

Maybelline has been in hyper active mode for quite a some time now. A new product is launched even before we can get our hands on the previous launch. Not that we are complaining! I picked up their Maybelline Lip Gradation, a much awaited launch, in shade Pink 2 recently. Let’s start the review.

Price: INR 500 for 1.2 gm

IMG_0736Product Description (As per website):

“It’s time to experiment with your lip makeup. For the sexy, bold and adventurous woman, Maybelline New York brings international trends with the newest Lip Gradation. Available in 8 bright, matte shades, this double-sided lip product will inspire you to experiment with your looks and bring out your unique style and personality. The color stick at one end will give a gorgeous pop of color while the cushion blender tool at the other end will give a sexy, graded look. For a complete trend-on look, apply color on the centre of your upper lip and use the sponge smudger to extend the color to the outer edges till the contours of your lips or use it as a matte lip color or a lip liner.

Here’s why you will love it:

8 bright, matte shades

Easy to apply

Fun, flirty, versatile way to color your lips

Innovative product with cutting edge technology”

Maybelline Lip Gradation Pink 2 comes in a beautiful dark pink twist up pen packaging, secured with a black cap and a smudger on the other end. The color Pink 2 is a beautiful pink color, leaning towards Fuchsia. The lipstick is super pigmented and easily covers all the pigmentation in a single swipe. The texture is super creamy, which glides on smoothly without any tugging on the lips. This is amazing for a matte lip color. It does not dry the lips at all, and feels super light weight on the lips. Loveeee it!

The only thing I did not like is the smudger. I don’t like the look it gives to the lips, it makes them look messy. But it is great to be used as your regular matte lipstick. The lipstick stays decently for about 4 hours, and even fades away without looking messy.

All in all, I am loving this formula as well as this pretty color. PInk 2 will be suitable for a wide range of skin tones in my opinion. It is a must try matte formula in my opinion.

Flawed or Fab???

Will I repurchase and recommend Maybelline Lip Gradation to others???

Definitely yes, both the formula and color range is good. I may pick up one in another shade though, since I don’t tend to finish up my makeup.

Have you picked up your Maybelline Lip Gradation yet??? Let me know in the comment box below.

Maybelline Baby Lips Candy Wow Review

Currently I am having an obsession with lip balms and lip treatments, and I am collecting them like crazy. Now I was supposed to write and post this review yesterday. But as usual, life came into the way! Anyways I no longer want to delay this product review, as I am already late enough on getting my hands on it. So here I go.

Price: INR 275 for 2 gm

Product Details ( As per website):

“A Baby Lips first – your favourite lip balm now comes in candy‑inspired colour and a new retractable crayon format! Hydrate your lips with the help of vitamin E plus get a glossy candy colour at the same time.

Why You’ll Love It:

Vitamin E helps hydrate and glide on smoothly.
•Sheer pop of colour with a glossy shine and a yummy candy flavour.”

First things first, how cute is the packaging??? One of the reasons that I so badly wanted to buy one is because the packaging is super cute. These really look like the chubby babies of the lip balm world 🙂 I picked up the Maybelline Baby Lips Candy Wow in shade Orange, although it is available in 5 lovely shades. This one comes in bright orange pen packaging, with fluorescent green alphabets. Such a cute one!

The Candy Wow range comes in a twist up pen, with a cap. The color of the shade Orange is a lovely sheer orange. It glides on very easily on the lips, and provides an instant shine and hydration to lips. Loveeee it! The formula is quite hydrating, though slightly less than the original baby lips in my opinion. It is very light weight, and does not feel sticky at all. So it is an apt product to use when ever you want a slight tint on your lips with lots of hydration and no heavy feeling.

Some people might find it a little expensive than the regular baby lips, but I don’t mind, because I tend to get bored with lip balms over the time. So it does not make much of a difference to me. Also the color range is lovely.

I definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a lovely and hydrating lip tint. Must try in my opinion, especially if you are a Baby Lips Fan!

Have any one of you used these lovely Maybelline Baby Lips Candy Wow lip balms??? How did you like them???

Chambor Flowing Lipstick -Fig Rose Review

Lipsticks are a great way to brighten up the face. As I shared with you guys in my last post, I picked up two lipsticks from Chambor Flowing Lipstick Range recently. This range has been around for years now. Though I had no intention of picking up any lipsticks, I was tempted into buying as I was getting two in the price of one!!! So I figured out that there could not be a better time to try these out, and I picked up one in Fig Rose and one in Innocent Rose.

Price: INR 645 for 4ml

Chambor Flowing Lipstick Fig Rose comes in a beautiful silver tube, with a little bit transparent part, that is great for identifying the shade by just looking at it. One of the reasons for picking these up was the packaging as well. It has a brush applicator, secured by a cap, and a twisting cap at the bottom to push the product out. This lipstick has Shea butter along with other ingredients, which is supposed to keep lips hydrated. The finish is supposed to be matte and long lasting.

Although the packaging is cute, couple of things frustrated me in the beginning. It took me  forever to get the product out to the tip of brush. All I kept on getting was some kind of liquid (probably the mineral oil) for almost 20 clicks. I even thought of giving up thinking that I received a piece gone bad. After a little later, I was finally happy to see the product out. Also you have to be careful with cleaning the brush after every use, or you can end up creating a mess.

You have to very careful with the application of the lipstick as well. The application can very easily go wrong, so you have to do it very patiently. The lipstick takes forever to set as well, which again is not for the benefit of  the impatient. The lipstick tends to smudge when still wet. Also the color looks too glossy when wet, but sets into a matte finish. I think you have to give it like 10 minutes!!!!

Above-before setting Below-after setting

The color is a very pretty pink, with a lot of brown undertones. I love brown lipsticks on others, but somehow I don’t like it on myself. But this color is definitely a winner for me as well! Although it has lots of brown undertones, but it has that freshness of pink to it as well. So anyone who is shy of using brown but want to start using, Fig Rose is a perfect solution. The formula is not too drying on the lips, though it tends to accentuate the lines on the lip. But it is not uncomfortable. Although it is supposed not to transfer, but it does a little anyways. It lasts for 5-6 hours, though it may get a little patchy after eating.

Overall I feel the formula is great with these Chambor Flowing Lipsticks, but only if you have patience. The Color Fig Rose is though to die for! I will definitely recommend this color if you have to buy just one.

Rating: 3/5

Will I repurchase and recommend Chambor Flowing Lipsticks to others???

I may not repurchase them again since I already have two shades from the same range, but I will recommend this particular shade to anyone looking to try a pink with brown undertone.

Have any of you tried these Chambor Flowing Lipstick?? Which one is your favorite shade???

Current Winter care Favourites

It has only been a month and a half of winters so far. Though the winters have not been so harsh so far, still skin needs extra love and pampering as soon as the weather starts to get a bit chilly. There have been certain products that I tried out this winter which have been working great for my skin, and then there are tried and tested ones. So I thought of sharing a couple of products that I am currently loving.

IMG_0348 (1)For a long time now, my staple lip balm had been Maybelline baby lips, and I was pretty happy with this lip balm for the amount I had to pay for it. But it all changed when I tried The Bodyshop Vitamin E Lipcare, and now this one is my absolute favorite. I love how it treats my dry lips, keeps them nourished for a longer time, and has an SPF!!! Absolutely my all time favorite now! Another product that I am in love with right now is the Rouge Dior Baume, and I have the one in the shade 660 Coquette. I am wearing it every single time I step out of my house, and love the hydration and pretty color that it imparts to my lips. Definitely recommended, I am going to try it few other colors soon.

For Face, I am using my tested Clinique Clarifying Lotion after washing my face. It helps to get rid of all the dead skin cells and acts as a great toner for my skin. I also tried out Dermalogia Daily Microfoliant, and I love how it works on my skin. I no longer use a scrub, this microfoliant works wonder for me, and I am using it 2-3 times a week. The moisturizer is my all time favorite- Clinique dramatically different moisturizing lotion.

And for the body, I am enjoying using my Jergans Ultra healing, and absolutely loving it. Again a new discovery for me this season, and I am glad that I found it. This is definitely going to be in my regimen for a long time. On the well being front, I enjoy using Forest Essentials Tranquil Sleep every now and then. A unique product, that has really worked well for me to reduce stress and having a restful sleep, needs a special mention as one of my current favorites.

What have your favorites this winter??? Please share with me in the comment box!

Rouge Dior Baume 660 Coquette Review

The winters in northern part of India are getting a little weird.only yesterday I was reading that December 2015 turned out to be the hottest in 114 years!!! And now in January, I am scared that we will see a lot more cold than it usually should be. Anyways, sitting here in my quilt with hot tea in my hands, I am writing another review.

During my last visit to Sephora, I bought a Rouge Dior Baume in the shade 660 Coquette. This is my first purchase from Dior, and after swatching a lot, I finally picked up this shade.

Price: INR 2500 for 3.2 gm

Product Description ( from the website):

“The freshest, most protective, easy-wearing and complementary of Rouge Dior products. No need to choose between lip care and makeup—in a single step, lips are revived in colors with a healthy glow and wet dew-like shine, and drenched in a protective nourishing lip treatment.”

The Rouge Dior Baume is a natural lip treatment. That means that along with imparting a beautiful color to the lips, it also helps to hydrate and heal the lips to keep them in a good health. The packaging of the lipstick is very classy. It is all black with silver accents, and CD is engraved on top of the case. It is also engraved on top of the lipstick bullet.

I bought this lipstick because of it’s claim of being a lip care product as well as makeup. And this lipstick from Dior definitely lives up to my expectations.First of all, the color 660 Coquette is a very pretty pink glossy color. It glides on the lips like a dream, and manages to cover pigmentation on my lips in a single swipe. The color can be further built up by multiple swipes. It has a beautiful gloss to it, and does not feel sticky at all.

I love how it hydrates my lips the moment it touches them. My lips don’t need a balm underneath whenever I use this lipstick, and stay well moisturized for a long time. It does have a faint rosy smell to it, and it will not irritate sensitive nose at all. The finish is very smooth and light. It stays for about 3 hours on the lips, after which you will have to reapply for the color. But the best part is that the lips stay hydrated for a long time even if you don’t apply it again!

I am totally in love with the formula of Rouge Dior Baume, and the color in itself is very pretty. It is a perfect lipstick to wear whenever your lips need extra care, but you still need that splash of color that the lip balms fail to provide.

Flawed or Fab???

Rating: 4/5 ( expensive)

Will I repurchase and recommend Rouge Dior Baume to other?

Yes, I will definitely recommend it to everyone. I will definitely repurchase as well, but probably try to some other colors.

Have any one of you tried these Rouge Dior Baume lipsticks??? Please share your experience with me in the comments below.

December 2015 Empties

There are couple of things I managed to finish up in December last year, and I thought of sharing a mini review of these products. I managed to finish some hair care and skin care products in this month. Unfortunately, I am never able to finish my makeup products, and most of the time they have to be thrown out by the end of their expiry date. I will try to share what I am getting rid off in makeup, when I manage to do some clearing off.

IMG_0175Forest Essentials Eye cream : The first one is an eye cream, the Forest Essentials Intensive Eye cream with Anise. I didn’t enjoy this eye cream, because it failed to do anything good for my under eye area. A detailed review of this eye cream is here.

I will not be buying this eye cream again. Any recommendations from your side???

Dove Oxygen Moisture shampoo: This is the first time that I tried this shampoo, and I must say it is good. It smells great, and leaves my hair smooth and shiny. A nice decent budget friendly shampoo, it comes at INR 292 for 340 ml. I will definitely buy it again, and recommend to anyone looking for a good shampoo for lifeless rough hair.

L’oreal Total Repair 5 hair masque: Another hair product that I managed to finish is this hair masque from L’oreal. A detailed review of this product can be seen here.

Nivea Soft Light Moisturizer: Now this one from Nivea has been my favorite for a long time. I know a lot of people love this light cream. I do not use it for my face. Rather, it is a favorite for my feet and hands. I love using it on my hands especially before sleeping. I love the mild fragrance and the fact that it can be used in so many ways. Very economical cream, it is a must have in my case, because I feel that every one in the family can find one way or the other to include this cream in their daily routine.

Maybelline Baby Lips Color Berry Sherbet: I have mentioned it a number of times now that I love Maybelline Baby Lips. I have just finished the one in color Berry Sherbet. Honestly, I did not enjoy these colored ones as much as I like the original ones. They are not that hydrating on lips. I will not repurchase these ones again.

Lakme Sun Expert SF30++ : I am not very regular with my sunscreens. I know that is a bad thing, but somehow I feel my skin can’t breathe whenever I have sunscreen on. But last month we were lucky enough to have lots of sunshine in the cold weather, so I tried to be regular with this sunscreen when ever going out. Initially I felt a bit weird using it, but now I don’t have that much trouble using it. It also prevented any tanning since the time I started using it.

Nike Woman Free Soul Deodorant: Last but not the least, I finished up this deo from Nike. It has a very nice long lasting smell. I will repurchase it again in the summer, as right now I am trying out another one.

I hope you enjoyed the post. Any products from the list that you used up in the last month??? Please share your experiences with me.

The Body Shop Vitamin E Lip Care Review

I need lip balms all the time. Through out the year, my lips tend to get dry, and I have to use a lip balm all around the year, though the frequency increases substantially during winters. And I think this is a case with so many of us out there. I have been using and loving Maybelline Baby Lips for a long while now. The Nivea lip balms did nothing to me, and once I tried the Body Shop Born Lippy lip balms which come in a pot, I found out that I am more into stick lip balms than the pot ones.

I have been hearing so much good things about the Vitamin E product line, so I decided to give a try to their Vitamin E Lip Care.

Price: INR 350 for 4.2 gm

20151228_121024Product Claims on website:

This moisturising lip balm soothes and protects lips from the drying effects of the sun, wind and cold weather”

  • Soothes dry lips
  • With SPF 15

The Body Shop Vitamin E Lip Care comes with an SPF 15, which is an added advantage. The lip balm comes in a pale pink plastic stick packing, with a transparent cap. The product comes out by rolling from the bottom, and the lip balm looks pale in color in the stick. But it does not show any color on the lips. That makes it perfect for the men in the house as well!!!

I have been using this lip balm for almost a week now and I LOVEEEE it! It actually keeps my lips moisturized longer than any other lip balm that I have ever used. It contains coconut oil and olive oil along with other ingredients, and they do  pretty decent job of keeping lips soft and moisturized. There is no waxy feeling after applying this balm, which, to be honest, happens at times with my favorite Maybelline Baby Lips as well. I tried putting it on at night before sleep, and I felt a major difference in my lips in the morning. I put it on, and it feels that it gets absorbed in the lips. Moments later I even forget that I have something on my lips, but it keeps on doing its job silently and efficiently.

The best thing about this TBS Vitamin E Lip Care is that you can use it as a lip treatment as well. I find it apt for times when you don’t want that extra tint on your lips, just a regular lip balm. I tried using it under my lipstick as well. Now most of the lipsticks tend to make my lips dry, and I find lipstick slipping on my lips with other lip balms. But this one worked amazingly well. My lips were totally hydrated even after hours of wearing lipstick, and it didn’t cause any trouble in making the process of putting on lipstick bothersome.

I am totally in love with this lip balm, and I can safely say that this one is going to be HG lip product now. I love using it all the time!!!

Flawed of Fab???

Rating: 5/5

Will I repurchase The Body Shop Vitamin E Lip Care???

Definitely Yes.
