Makeup Revolution Vivid Blush Lacquer -Heat Review

The brand Makeup Revolution has been praised for it’s budget friendly and good products. I wanted to try something from this brand as well, and I was eyeing some eye shadow palette. But when I saw a product called Makeup Revolution Vivid Blush Lacquer, I was intrigued to buy this one. I have the shade Heat in this.

Price: INR 750 (I got it for 370 on Flipkart)

Makeup Revolution Vivid Blush LacquerProduct Description:
Ultra intensive liquid blush for intense pop of colour and easy to blend A creamy blush that creates a rich, long lasting vivid colour on the cheeks. Easily blendable across the cheeks for a natural and easy to build the shade up on any skin tone. And gives the skin a natural, soft and matte finish. Revolution tip: A small little dot goes a long way!

The first unique thing about the Makeup Revolution Vivid Blush Lacquer is that it comes in a very cute plastic bottle with a pump dispenser! I have never seen a blush in a similar packaging. The second thing- It is a liquid blush. I have only come across powder or cream blushes, so this is a very unique product for me in itself! The pump works great and keeps the product hygienic. It makes it very travel friendly as well.

IMG_2084The blush is very creamy and thick in texture. It is super-pigmented, even a drop is sometimes more than enough for both cheeks! Yes, it is that  insanely pigmented. The blush needs to be blended quickly, before it sets and refuses to budge.

The shade Heat is a very earthy peachy shade. It is a lovely color, which will look great for both medium and deeper skin tones. The color is buildable, so it can be used as sheer or deeper blush. I just love how it gives a warm glow and color to the face. The blush has no shimmer what so ever, so it is great to be used during the day as well.  I can see myself using this blush in summers with peachy coral lipsticks. It looks great on its own as well, as it does not look artificial at all when properly blended. The blush blends well both with fingers and a stippling brush. The only care to be taken is that the skin should be well hydrated before applying this blush.

IMG_2083

Blended

Now comes the another amazing part-the lasting time. The blush stays put for a decent 6-7 hours even when used on bare face and no setting. The life is increased even more when used on a base with proper setting! Now for the price that it comes for, it is great!!! There is no need for touching up for hours. Super impressed!!!!

I will highly recommend everyone to try out this blush, especially when it is available for such a great price. There are total of 6 colors available, and you can try out some other colors as well.

Flawed or fab???

FAB!!!!

Rating: 4.75/5 (Availability is the only issue)

Will I repurchase Makeup Revolution Vivid Blush Lacquer and recommend to others???

I will definitely recommend this great blush to everyone. I will probably repurchase it in some other shade.

Forest Essentials Indian Rose Absolute Body Lotion Review

I have been using a couple of things from my last Envy Box, and it is the time to talk about Forest Essentials Indian Rose Absolute Body Lotion. This is one of their ultra rich body lotions.

Price: INR 1175 for 200 ml

Shelf Life: Almost 2 years

IMG_2079

Product Description ( As per the website):

A richly evocative oil, Indian Rose Absolute is one of the world’s most precious essential oils. Timelessly romantic. This body lotion uses burnt Cane Sugar, a humectant which attracts and seals moisture into the skin.

Product Benefits:

This Moisture Drenching Indian Rose Absolute Hand & Body Lotion is enriched with caramelized sugar crystals that retain moisture on the skin and leave it soft and nourished. Kokum butter along with burnt sugar and organic beeswax provide natural hydration and make the skin smooth and supple. Antioxidant properties of Vitamin E and Gokharu reduce the ill effects of free radicals and give lustre to the skin with voluptuous fragrance of Indian Rose Absolute.

Since I have a 50 ml sample size, I checked the website for packaging details. It comes in the typical rectangular plastic body, with a dispensing pump. That is good thing I guess, because the sample bottle that I have does not have a pump, and it gets difficult to get the thick lotion out of the bottle.

The lotion is white in color and has a thick consistency. It has a rose scent, which is seems a bit altered due to other ingredients in the body lotion. But the smell is pleasant, unless you don’t like the sweet smells in general. In that case, the smell can be a little overpowering due to its sweetness.

IMG_2080

The lotion is quite thick in consistency, and you have to work a little to get it completely absorbed in the skin. But once it gets absorbed, there is no greasiness or residue on the skin. The skin feels hydrated and soft after application. The smell lingers on the skin for couple of hours after using, may be for around 2-3 hours.

The good thing about this Indian Rose Absolute Body Lotion is that it instantly hydrates the skin. There is no heaviness or greasy feeling on the skin, and it gives a slight glow to the skin. The skin looks healthy and nourished after using this lotion. The lotion has a luxurious feel to it.

The hydration is not very long lasting though for very dry skin. My skin stays moisturized for around 8-10 hours and it starts feeling a bit dry after that. So if you have dry skin and looking for long hydration, this has to be re-applied. For normal skin, the duration of hydration will definitely be long. Even for dry skin, it will work better in summer than in winter.

Rating: 3.75/5

Have any of you already tried Forest Essentials Indian Rose Absolute Body Lotion??? What are your views on it???

Forest Essentials Facial Scrub Hand Pounded Organic Fruit Review

Today I will be reviewing the Forest Essentials Facial Scrub Hand Pounded Organic Fruit, which I received as a part of my February Envy Box. I received a decent sample size, and used it a couple of times already. I thought of sharing my views on the products I received this time as all sample are decent sized to use and find out whether I liked it or not.

Price: INR 1675 for 50 gm

IMG_2075

Product Details (As per website):

This nourishing face scrub, hand-pounded to the right consistency, blends fresh organically grown Dates, Peaches and Almond seeds with rich Apricot Kernel oil, pure Honey and finely milled Almonds to gently exfoliate dull cells, revealing a beautifully polished and glowing complexion.

Product Benefits:

Derived from the unique Fal Yukth Gharshan Lep, this facial scrub uses a variety of fruit with exfoliating properties along with other natural plant extracts. These ingredients are fermented by placing them in terracotta jars buried under the ground for many months, and then blended with herb, root and flower infusions to create a highly nourishing and deep cleansing scrub.

How to use:

Use a small amount on damp skin and rub gently to cleanse. Rinse well.

Since I have a sample of this product, I don’t know actually about the packaging apart from that it comes in a tub form, like many other products of Forest Essentials. The scrub is a thick sticky paste, and is dark brown in color. It looks like some sort of chutney or thick jam. There are some coarse granules visible in the paste itself.

Forest Essentials Facial Scrub Hand Pounded Organic Fruit

I find the scrub too thick in consistency. It applies well only on moist face, after the scrub has been diluted a little as well. The scrub is mainly smooth, but it has some coarse granules which are a bit too harsh on sensitive skin. Since I have a sensitive skin, I find it difficult to prevent them from irritating my skin a little.

The good thing is that it leaves the skin smooth and polished after use. It is a good scrub to use at nose and chin area, which normally have more black heads than rest of the face. But still one has to be careful about the pressure. It also imparts a slight glow to the skin, and it looks a little more hydrated.

There is another issue that I faced with this scrub. I normally use my scrub after washing my face with a face wash, and I rinse my face just with plain water after using a scrub. With this scrub, there was a layer of residue left on my face which comes out only when I clean it with face wash or toner. That is not something that I have faced with any of my scrubs before, and I don’t like it.

Also, the smell of this scrub is not very pleasant. Although it has hints of rose to it, but the dries fruits overcome it and the smell of the fermented fruits is bothersome to me. Unfortunately, the smell lingers on the skin for a long time as well.

So in my opinion this Forest Essential Facial scrub is a bit harsh for sensitive skin on a regular basis. I scrub my face 2-3 times a week, and I can think of using it once a week max. This scrub will be better for people with normal non-sensitive skin, if they can go past the smell. For me, it is a very average product, not worth the money that you have to spend on it.

Rating: 3/5

I know many of you might have already tried this Forest Essentials Facial Scrub Hand Pounded Organic Fruit.I would love to hear your experiences with this one.

Faces Ultime Pro Velvet Matte Pinked Out Review

Faces Ultime Pro Velvet Matte in shade Pinked Out is my first and only lipstick from Faces Canada so far. Rather, it is the only product that I have from this brand, which is so weird because this brand has some really good products. I ended up buying Faces Ultime Pro Velvett Matte Pinked Out  when actually I wanted to buy the shade “Proof” from the same range. I fell in love with this color when I swiped it on my hand, and now I am here reviewing it.

Price: INR 649 for 4.5 gm

Shelf Life: 36 months

IMG_2074What the Brand says about the Faces Ultime Pro Velvet Matte:

  • Lasts upto 8 hours
  • Satin Matte Finish
  • Keeps lips supple

Faces Ultime Pro Velvett Matte lipsticks come in a matte black and silver case, which is safely secured in a cardboard box, having all the details. The packaging is decent but nothing extra-ordinary. The cap closes with a click so that is as added advantage.

The shade Pinked Out is a beautiful bright pink color, which goes towards fuchsia. It is a very pigmented lipstick, that needs just a swipe or two to give its true color on the lips. The lipstick is pigmented enough to cover any lip pigmentation and does not need too much of layering.

IMG_1971

The texture of the lipstick is very smooth and it glides on lips very easily. It is very light weight and does not feel heavy on lips. The finish is truly a satin matte, which looks very beautiful. The lipstick does not dry the lips, and keep them looking great through out the day.

It does stay for good 6 hours, even after meals with only a slight fading. It wears off evenly as well, so it does not leave lips patchy even after fading. I am truly impressed how this lipstick delivers on all the promises that it makes! So if you a matte lover who loves a satin matte finish, this range is a must try.

Rating: 4.5/5

Will I recommend and repurchase Faces Ultime Pro Velvett Matte Pinked Out to others???

Yes, if you have not yet tried these lipsticks yet, I will highly recommend giving them a go. Again I will repurchase the lipstick from this range, but in some different shade because I never tend to finish my make up off.

Have you tried Faces Ultime Pro Velvett Matte in Pinked Out or any other shade??? Did you love it as much I did???

Benefit the POREfessional Primer Review

While most of the beauties were busy shopping bag loads of stuff from Nykaa’s Valentine’s Day sale, I was placing order for certain products from Flipkart. There were some pretty good discounts going on Flipkart, for example, I bought Clinique Dramatically Different Lotion at a discount of 1000 bucks! Now that was a huge deal for me, because that is my staple moisturizer. I also bought Benefit the POREfessional primer, and this is a review for that one.

Price: INR 1250 for 7.5 ml ( the standard size is 22 ml, but I wanted a smaller size to try)

IMG_1912Product Description:

“Apply this silky, lightweight formula to minimize the appearance of pores & fine lines for smoother-than-smooth skin”.

To use under Makeup:

“Apply to moisturized skin to help makeup stay put.Focus on problem areas & blend with fingertips”.

To use over makeup:

“Pat on lightly over makeup and blend”.

Benefit the POREfessional primer comes in a plastic tube packing. It has a small outlet in the form of a hole at the top, which is safely secured by a black cap. The packing is very user-friendly and hygienic. It is great for travel purpose as well. The primer is nude in color and has a very faint smell, which is not bothersome at all.

The formula is very light weight and blends on skin very easily. The texture seems to change from cream to powder as soon as it is blended. It is not sticky or greasy at all. There is an immediate blurring of the pores when this primer is applied! I have some open pores around my nose, and this primer filled them up effectively. The pores appear way less appear and skin feels much even.

FotorCreated

Left- Without primer ,Right- With primer

It evens out the skin well, so it works even if you are not going to put on any foundation. You can use this primer on its own to get a much refined look. The primer feels super light on the skin, like you have nothing on the skin at all. It makes foundation application much smoother. Not only this, it did not dry out my skin any further and stayed put for a decent 5-6 hours.

The primer did not clog my pores nor did it cause any breakouts, though I have a sensitive skin. But since it has silicones in it, people who are allergic to them should avoid it. Although a bit expensive, I am totally in love with this primer!

Rating: 4/5

Will I repurchase and recommend Benefit the POREfessional primer to others???

Yes to both. If you are not allergic to silicones, you should definitely give this primer a try.

Have any of you used this Benefit the POREfessional primer??? What has been your experience with it??? If not this one, which is you favorite prime???

Lakme Enrich Satin Lipstick R359 Review

Another Lakme Enrich Satin Lipstick!!!

Another Red Lipstick!!!

I never thought I am a red lipstick person, but I have so many of them!!!

Does it happen to you too??? That you keep on collecting lipsticks in shades you don’t think you love that much???

Price: INR 260 for 4.3 gm ( Available cheaper online)

Shelf Life: 24 months

Lakme Enrich Satin R359 belongs to the red family of Enrich Satin Lipsticks. It is a beautiful red color, with slight orange undertones. It is quite pigmented in nature, though 2-3 swipes are needed to get an even color on the lips. The color looks gorgeous on Indian skin tones, and works especially well with Indian ethnic wear.

IMG_1538

The lipstick has a smooth texture, and glides on lips very easily. But one has to be careful because of its creamy texture, as it can easily move while application. Also red color needs a little extra care while application. The lipstick transfers, and lasts for hardly 2.5 hours or less. It leaves a stain on the lips though, which at times can become a little patchy as well, especially if you apply it on not so well moisturized lips.

The lipstick feels comfortable on lips, though it is not hydrating in nature. But it does not dry your lips if you apply it over a good lip balm.

Rating: 3/5

Will I recommend Lakme Enrich Satin R359 to others???

It is a beautiful red shade that looks great on medium skin tones. I will recommend this lipstick if you are looking for a decently priced everyday red lipstick, or if you are new to red shades and want to try out if you really like the color on you or not.

Do you own Lakme Enrich Satin R359 as well??? Which are your favorite all time red lipsticks??? Please share with me in the comment box.

My Envy Box February 2016

I subscribed to My Envy Box for the first time this month. I am not a huge fan of the subscription options currently available in Indian market. I subscribed to fabbag for December, and the only product I liked was Sugar Crayon Scarlett O’Hara , I did not even use rest of the items. But this month when I came to know that Forest Essentials is celebrating 15 years with My Envy Box, I had to get it! I have been trying to test Forest Essentials products, and since they almost never go on sale, I decided to pick this one up to try.

Price: INR 850 for 1 month (Longer sbscriptions available at discounted price

IMG_1519

This time it is a white Envy Box, which houses 5 products from Forest Essentials, very nicely packed. I got a list of products included in the box, and a coupon for 10% discount on Forest Essentials site. It also had a coupon for 10% discount on the designer jewelry box, which I think I am not going to use. Let’s have a look at the contents of the box.

IMG_1520

Forest Essentials Silkening Shower Wash: A decent sample of 50 ml of this body wash, containing Mashobra Honey and Vanilla is a part of this box. It is priced at INR 295 for that quantity, a full size bottle should be by far more reasonably priced in my opinion. It smells great and I am going to try it soon.

Forest Essentials Ultra Rich Dazzling Body Lotion: Again another decent sample size of 50 ml, this one is priced at INR 375. I am excited to use this one as I am always on hunt for good moisturizers for my dry skin. This one is supposed to have Kokum butter along with other ingredients, which is supposed to be great for dry skin.

Forest Essentials Luxury Sugar Soap: A 125 gm of this luxury soap containing Neem, basil & honey is priced at INR 295. Again a decent size to use and make an opinion, I am having high hopes from this one as well.

Forest Essentials Hand Pounded Organic Fruit Scrub: This 8 gm sample is priced at INR 575! This has hand grounded dates, peaches and almond seeds along with other ingredients. Although the sample size looks small, I am sure I can use it couple of times and know it works on my skin.

Forest Essentials Lightening&Brightening Tejasvi Emulsion: This too is a 8 gm sample, and is priced at INR 675! Again I am lucky to get another product meant for dry skin, as this one is supposed to contain Ghee, which it smells like too. Honestly not a fan of this fragrance, but still not that bad that I can’t give it a try.

All and all, I am really happy with MY Envy Box February 2016. The samples for 850 bucks are pretty good, and I am glad it did not turn out to be having products that I would not like to use. Also the box reached me within 2 days of ordering, which is great given the time fabbag takes! If you are looking forward to try some new Forest Essentials products, then I will highly recommend giving this month’s box a try! Looking forward to try them all!

I am sure some of you already must have subscribed to the box. Please share how you felt about this month’s My Envy Box!

Forest Essentials Panchpushp Facial Tonic Mist Review

I picked up Forest Essentials Panchpushp Facial Tonic Mist as one of the few products that I picked up to give this brand another chance. I had tried a few of Forest Essentials products which unfortunately did not work for me as expected, so I was keeping my distance from this brand. But after giving it a break for sometime, I thought of giving it another chance and so far the products that I have reviewed have been pretty decent. Let’s talk about Forest Essentials Panchpushp facial tonic mist in this post.

Price: INR 650 for 100 ml, INR 1125 for 200 ml

IMG_1517

Product Description (As per website):

This hydrosol or floral water comes from the condensation collected during the steam distillation of flowers when extracting essential oils. This contains five flowers of which the Rose is naturally hydrating, Bela helps in retaining moisture, Marigold is toning, Kewda is softening and Saffron gives a glow to the skin.

Product Benefits:

The skin requires a gentle boost after cleansing to rehydrate and tone and prepare it for a nourishing routine. The freshest flowers of Rose, Marigold, Bela, Kewda and Saffron are steam distilled for their pure essential oils and the hydrating floral water residue is used for this intensely hydrating Facial Toner.”

Directions for use:

Spray onto the face and neck after cleansing to hydrate and freshen the skin. Can be used as often as required during the day.

The panchpushp tonic mist comes in a transparent plastic spray bottle with a cap. I believe it was earlier named as a toner and used to come without a spray pump. The mist is yellow in color. It is a formulation of 5 flowers- rose, bela, marigold, kewda and saffron. The facial mist smells wonderful like all the products from Forest Essentials.

I have been using it after cleansing and using my Clinique clarifying lotion, which is itself a mild exfoliator and a toner. The mist feels nice on the skin, and does not irritate in any way. But it is way too runny, and it runs down the face and neck. It does not get absorbed immediately in the skin Clinique Moisture Surge Spray which is a little disappointing for me. It does hydrate the skin, but again hydration level is not like it is being raved about. I follow it with rest of the products from my skincare regimen.

The product in itself is good, it hydrates to some extent. Though I have not seen any difference in few open pores that I have on my cheeks. I think it will make an excellent facial spray for summers, for it cools down the face and smells amazing. It is going to be an instant pick me up for those hot summer days.

Overall, I like this product though I am not in love with it. I am not sure of using it over the makeup as well, because of its runny nature. For me, it is not going to replace my toner in any way, though I will use it as a facial mist. I am sure I am going to love using it in the coming season.

Rating: 3.5/5

Will I repurchase and recommend Forest Essentials Panchpushp Facial Tonic Mist to others???

I will repurchase it, but purely to use it as a facial mist in summer time. And I will recommend this only if you are looking for a facial mist for a skin with no open pore or other issues.

Have any one of used Forest Essentials Panchpushp Facial Tonic Mist??? What are your thoughts on the same???

Neutrogena Body Oil Review

Moisturizing my skin is such a chore for me, sometimes I get so exhausted!!! But no matter how boring the process is, I try to keep up with it as much as possible. This also pushes me to keep on trying new products, and this time I ended up picking up Neutrogena Body Oil. When I spotted this Neutrogena body oil in NewU, it took me back to days when I used Johnson&Johnson baby oil for my skin. So I decided to give this oil a try.

Price: INR 499 for 250 ml

Shelf Life: 36 months

IMG_1412

Product Description:

Experience Neutrogena Body Oil. Its light sesame formula glides on easy to moisturize dry skin. It’s so sheer it vanishes into shower-damp skin leaving it soft and silky, with a radiant, healthy glow. No moisturizer can touch this experience.

Directions for use:

After Shower or bath: While skin is damp, smooth on a few drops to help seal in moisture. Let your body dry naturally, or simply pat dry with towel.

In the Bath: Add to water and soften your skin while you bathe.”

The Neutrogena Bath Oil comes in their standard packing, transparent plastic bottle with black cap.The oil is light yellow in color. The oil has a strong smell, which some may find pleasant, though it is slightly overpowering and artificial for me. But luckily, the smell is not that strong on skin and mellows down after application on skin.

IMG_1413The formula of the oil is amazingly light. It is a sesame seed oil based formula, something which I have never come across before. It is very easy to work with, and gets absorbed in the skin in the matter of seconds. i use it on slightly damp skin, and it gets absorbed without leaving any greasy feeling. Immediately after application, skin feels soft and hydrated. I tried it on towel dried skin as well, and it got absorbed in skin like a dream! It keeps skin hydrated for couple of hours on its own, and for a very long time if followed by a moisturizer. In summer, it might be able to sustain on its own.

The application is so much easier than those in-shower body moisturizers, as you don’t need to wash them off and this one hydrates much better. I tried it on my skin couple of hours after a shower, and it hydrated my skin equally well. There was no greasy feeling, though it left a shine on the skin. But the shine was not like the one you get with other oils, it was much less intense. I am really enjoying using this oil, and I am so happy that I gave it a try.

Rating:4/5 ( the fragrance is too artificial for my liking)

Will I recommend Neutrogena Body Oil to others???

Yes!!! If you are looking for in-shower hydrating options, this one is a great one to try. The only suggestion is to check the smell before buying so that you don’t find it overpowering later on.

Have you tried the Neutrogena Body Oil??? Which one is you favorite body oil if not this one???

Lakme Enrich Satin P152 Review

Lakme Enrich Satin Lipsticks have been in the market for a long time. Earlier, they used to come in those dark maroonish purple packing. The packing used to look boring and tacky, but the shades at that time were great for the price, and Lakme lipsticks used to a hit among the ladies. Last year, they changed their packing and came out with some new shades, along with the original shades as well. I don’t have many lipsticks from Lakme, so I picked up couple of shades. The one that I will review today is Lakme Enrich Satin P152.

Price: INR 260 for 4.3 gm ( Though you can get it cheaper online)

Shelf Life: 24

IMG_0229

The new packaging is such a relief from the old. Now the Lakme Enrich Satin Lipsticks come in a transparent and silver combination, with the logo clearly standing out on the side. I will not say that the packaging is classy, but it is way better than what it used to be earlier.

The texture of this particular lipstick is very creamy. It glides on lips very easily, and provides a beautiful creamy look to the lips. It is not glittery or frosty, and I think that is great for Indian skin tones because frosty colors don’t go that well with Indian complexion. The lipstick does not feel sticky or drying on lips, though I will recommend using it on well hydrated lips to get a better finish.

IMG_0227

Lakme Enrich Satin in P152 falls in pink color category according to the brand. In my opinion, the shade is more towards the Mauve shade, as it has lots of earthy undertone. The color in itself is very pretty and pigmented. I needed just one swipe to cover my moderately pigmented lips and get a great color deposit. Now some people may find this color a bit mature. To me, it is a sophisticated kind of mature shade, and not the old kinds. But in case you don’t like such colors, this shade may not be sure.

The lipstick is transferable due to its creamy texture, and therefore, does not last for more than 2.5-3 hours on the lips in its true color. It does leave a nice tint on the lips though, and does not leave the lips completely bare. The shade can further be toned down by blotting it after application, in case you don’t want it too dark. It does not dry lips a lot, although it is not hydrating in itself.

In my opinion, the Lakme Enrich Saitn lipsticks have a decent formula and color pay off for the price. It is a great buy especially if you are on a budget.

Rating: 3.5/5

Will I recommend Lakme Enrich Satin in P152 to others???

I recommend this shade to any one who loves a creamy dark pink shade with earthy undertones. Even if this shade is nit for you, I will definitely recommend trying out some other shades if you have not tried yet.

How many of you have tried out the Lakme Enrich Satin Lipstick Range??? Which is your favorite shade of the lot????
